Coach Muschamp leaving Dolphins for Auburn

I realy dont want this to be true.

You know if this is true it means that after only one year Saban has had both of his def cordinators stolen as well as his OC. I realy, realy, realy, hope this trend stops.

If we keep improving, it wont. That's just the short and skinny of the situation. The fact that Miami went from 4-12 to 9-7 in a year makes all of our coaches look very attractive to other programs, and GMs love to jump on whatever coaching tree looks hot at the moment. Bill Parcells has a few former assistants that are now NFL head coaches, as does BB, Mike Holmgren, Tony Dungy and (up until last year when the tree finally withered) Jimmy Johnson. GMs will continue to follow whatever trend is most popular in the hopes of getting as much out of their team as quickly as possible. I say just be glad we actually have a trend-SETTER as our head coach. We should be in good position for a long time.

what i want to know is now we dont have a deffensive coordinator?
and dom capers is their for like a year he was supposed to groom mushcamp i thought.. sp who is gonna take the DC position?? if capers does and somone lets him have a chance at a head coach position.. then were starting allover again

I know. I am just hoping that the failure of our current cordinators as HCs will let them hang arond for a couple years.

It will keep happening and I expect us to get used to it. I think it just will take some time and all.

Funny he'd take a DC job at Auburn over the pros, but perhaps he is more comfortable there. I doubt that it's about money, I'm sure Mr. H. compensated the man well...I wonder what the real scoop is...It's not like Auburn is setting him up to be the HC in a few years...Tubberville is fairly young as coaches go....seems strange to me...

I'm looking at this in a positive light. Honestly, I think we upgraded at the DC spot. Dom Capers is a former NFL head coach and a man who knows how to make something out of nothing through his experience with expansion teams. Smith and Muschamp really don't compare to him. The Capers hiring was basically the death knell to both DC's. Anyone who didn't think Capers was going to be our outright DC within a month was kidding themselves. It was only a matter of time.

This is also a sign that Nick Saban isn't going to fall into two of the big HC traps: standing pat with what "kind of" worked last season, and putting friendships over the team. Wanny was good at both. Saban and Muschamp had history, but Capers was clearly an upgrade. Saban did what he needed to do.

It may not be nice, but I like it.

isn't saban a defensive mind anyways? so if worse comes to worst (we lose capers after this year, without finding a decent replacement) wouldn't saban be able to call the plays for the defense ala belichick and parcells have done in the past?...so i think we'll be fine. I'd be more concerned if we started losing our o-coordinators/position coaches....(btw I'm happy with getting mularkey)...

If i remember correctly right after saban's hiring Muschamp was running around telling everyone he was going to be the DC till saban told him to shut up. He prolly took offense at first to the hiring of smith, and then again when saban hired Capers. He prolly had his expectations to high, and now wants to start off new some where else. Remember, Muschamp was under contract. He could only go to auburn with sabans blessing. Personally it appears that Capers may be done as a HC after 2 stints with 2 different clubs. Only the really greats get more than 2 chances as a HC. That could mean that next year when he gets no offers he re-sign with us for the longterm. Remeber he could only sign a 1 year deal as an advisor because of the stipulations in his old contract that he was still being paid from. I think muschamp saw that coming and realized he could be waiting a while till he gets the DC spot solo....Unless he gets out from under saban and gets knowledge with other schemes it could handicap any further chances he has as a HC or NFL DC. If he goes to Auburn and really shows something special w/o saban, then he will start to get credit as a Legitimate coach, and not as sabans Errand boy...

Just a thought.

Seems strange to me too. My guess is that he wanted to be the full DC this year and is upsett about the capers hire. I beleive it was rumored he was unhappy last year with only being a co DC and I seriously doubt he was any more happy about it going into next year.
