The combination of Shula and Marino beginning in 1983 elevated the Dolphins back to NFL relevance after slipping back from the dominating years of the early 70’s. When Coach Shula left and Marino retired this franchise has never come close to capturing that lighting in a bottle again. Now in my 50th year of being a Dolphin fan this franchise may have done just that. It’s way to early to know for sure but there is no doubt we have the best Coach and Quarterback combination since Shula/Marino. Tennessee Dolphins Fan.

The biggest question to me is how Gailey fits into the power structure and if he is able to build a culture and identity around his and Tua's vision for this offense. Does the offense always play second fiddle with Flores calling the shots or are we going to see similar resources allocated this upcoming offseason now that there is a foundation in place? The biggest failings in the Shula and JJ eras was the inability to build up the other side of the ball.

The hope is that Gailey is the right person for the job and he sticks around long enough for Tua to establish himself.

I've been saying for a while, top teams have a good QB/HC/GM. Quite a few here may disagree with Grier, but he's the best Miami has had in years.
It is that combination that makes many teams bottom tier. Good HC, bad QB. Good QB, bad GM. And though some won't accept reality, it is HARD to find ONE on those. Hx proves that out. Looks like Miami has found all 3

I agree completely with your addition of the GM into the overall combination. I also agree on your assessment of Grier.

Grier is smart enough to know what he doesn't know. Thats why he brought in new scouting personnel, allowing him to be the wheeler dealer, and hard nosed contract negotiator.

Grier is a lot better with Flores by his side though. The two working together and Flores background in scouting help bring in the talent needed to allow Flores to excel at coaching these guys up.

Always amused at those claiming "GRIER" drafted or selected a specific FA. Not his job. Not what he does. You are right . . . play to each other's strenghts

I doubt any FA is brought in without Flo signing off, and the draft is 100% a collaborative effort.
