The Miami Dolphins appear to have lost their kicking coach, as the Chiefs have hired Steve Hoffman for an unspecified position on their staff.

Source: PFT.

Some may say big whoop, but he is widely regarded as one of the best kicking coaches in the league. Carpenter and Fields are going to miss having him around, no doubt about it.

Carpenter had a terrific year and so did Feely the year before. I'm not sure this is a "big whoop" at all.

I guess "Kicking Coach" to ST Coach is considered a promotion. Makes sense.

Interesting to note that he was one of only TWO coaches that were kept on staff when Bill arrived. Shows that he thinks pretty highly of the guy. I believe he worked in Dallas at some point, so that may explain it.

Carpenter performance helped get him this job but it was Ireland who picked Carpenter so we will see if it is the chicken or the egg in regards to loosing this guy this year..

Bill let him go before when they were in Dallas.

If they let him go, it's no big deal. I doubt he's going to be the HC, so they let him go. Probably and ST coord position.

hopefully it isn't one of those mare after blevins repeats. if i recall correctly olindo fared worse after he lost doug blevins

I'd love for us to acquire Gano from Florida State as our new punter, and he also can boom kickoffs, so we can just have Carpenter kick field goals and waive Fields.

I hate to see any real change to the coaching staff. Continuity is what this team needs. But if we have to lose a coach to another team, I am glad it was Hoffman. He wasn't the ST coordinator, he was just the kicking coach. A position most teams do not have and one we will probably won't look to fill. This just means that John Bonamego has a little more daily work.

here we go we are going to miss all our kicks now
