Gonna throw an interesting name out there and ignore it if you want, but I heard this rumor from a guy with NFL contacts whom I trust, Matt LaFleur.

Green Bay just replaced its longtime President and the guy who hired LaFleur with Ed Policy -- a name older fans will remember from when his father Carmen ran the 49ers during the Bill Walsh years.

Things are not going so well behind the scenes in Green Bay and the GM Gutekunst, who did not hire LaFleur, would prefer to move on. Now, LaFleur is signed through 2026, so it might involve a draft choice (not a first from what I've been told).

Not even sure I'd want him, but another interesting name to keep in mind, especially if Green Bay does not end the season with a playoff victory or two.
I'd take LaFleur in an instant.

I always wish that Chris Petersen would make the move to the NFL. Stepped away from coaching college in 2019 to focus more on his joy in life and step away from the intense pressue. He is a winner and always had physical and smart teams and was a great leader. He now works for Fox and is consulting other coaches on how to be successful in the industry.

I said Kiffen because the other choices didnt seem to fit, but would prefer Spag or someone who will be a forceful figure head that players respect!

Decisions, decisions, decisions! - LOL

If I was the GM, the key is to hire a Defensive Coordinator with experience, a la Spagnuolo, Fangio, Raheem Morris.
It is not good enough for the Super Bowl goal oriented team to have a young inexperienced coordinator, which is one reason Weaver should be fired, in addition to his 30+ defense.

My preliminary inquiries would be to test the interest running an elite Super Bowl defense with:

- Leslie Frazier, currently assistant in Seattle, NFL experience coordinating defense since 2002, 1x SB, age 66
- Matt Patricia, currently DC with Ohio State, NFL experience coordinating defense since 2012. 2x SB, age 51
- Will Muschamp, currently advisor with UGA, years of experience with top defensive college programs LSU, Auburn, Florida, UGA, age 54

I had forgotten about Matt Patricia.
Maybe he would be a good choice.
Who knows? - LOL

wow these choices are not inspiring
They are still better than the weirdo that is the HC now.
I never seen a HC that cannot get plays in from the sideline.
Or cannot make correct game management decisions.
Cannot communicate or speak with any meaning.
Any of those names have at least a few HC qualities that can install a culture in the locker room.
To install some player discipline and accountability to be a pro.

I played football and had some good coaches and some bad coaches. For those that never played the game here I will tell you McDaniel is a bad football coach. Its not hard to see if you actually played.

A lot of you have stated that you want a coach with previous HC experience. There's not many quality ones available. All the good HC have jobs already. I've listed several in the poll. Just curious who you guys would want.

Back in my day, leather helmets were leather lulz

I don’t understand why the next HC should be a former HC in the NFL when the league is full of highest successful guys in their late 30s and early 40s on their first gigs.

Would you have chosen any of…
Sean McVay
Mike MacDonald
Nick Sirianni
Liam Coen
Matt LeFleur
Ben Johnson
DeMeco Ryan
Kevin O’Connell
Dave Canales
Kyle Shanahan
….if they were interested?

All are on their first HC jobs. All are doing really well. Find one of them in Chris Shula or Joe Brady or whoever. Or at least don’t eliminate them without ever considering them
