I am a firm believer that you have to dictate or at least try to dictate to the opposing team. Most of the game, our CBs were playing 10yds off the line of scrimmage and giving the short route to the offense. Big Mistake! You have to get up and challenge the WRs. You can not let their offense, or any offense for that matter, dink and dunk all the way down the field. This was a trend we saw in the last two games, really all year. With lesser teams you can get away with it, but better teams are going to exploit it.

Yes, if you play agressive and jam the WRs at the LOS, you may get torched. But your chances of the other team making a mistake are a lot better than sitting back and letting the offense systematically pick you apart. I can't not stand watching a team sitting back and waiting for something to happen and that is what has happened the last 3 weeks. What happens when the other team does not make the mistake? We got away with it against the teams that weren't that good, but it came back and bit us in the butt today. It's like being tied up and being stabbed in non-vitale organs all the while knowing you are eventually going to die.

This one was on the coaches, plain and simple.:err:

i dont agree with you. i understand what your saying and i felt the same way but honestly what choices do they have? the patriots obviously have the perfect personnel, along with arizona to really exploit our weakness in the secondary. they spread us out 4 and 5 wide, i thought we did a smart thing by putting will allen on welker, but jason allen should have gotten more help with moss. but since we were not getting much pressure we had to strat blitzing and since we were already spread out so thin we had noone deep in coverage. defenseive help is on the way in the offseason im sure

Fact is, the coaches have ALOT of confidence in the secondary . . . which is a GREAT thing IMO. But when u man up on the Patriot WR's . . . u BETTER get there up front, and not allow Cassell to have his WR's break on our secondary and have time to deliver.

It wasn't the coaching . . . the Patriots just beat us up front . . . we beat them up front in week 3 . . . it happens. It doesn't need to be over analyzed . . . sometimes its real simple.

I'm not mad with the scheme that the D coord ran . . . just we couldn't consistently get the pressure on and we left our DB's in man coverage for tons of time . . . but still the NE offense had to execute . . . and they did, with almost perfection . . tuff to beat.

I am more concerned with how the team responds next week with little room for error.

We just got out played. It happens, their pros too, and pretty good ones.

COACHING
F | There was no Wildcat 2.0, but worse, there were no answers when the Patriots continually shredded the Miami secondary. Nobody apparently thought blitzes would expose the secondary. Nobody thought to give Jason Allen some help. And where's the respect from Joey Porter when coaches want him out of the game and he stayed on the field?

we lost cuz of our Defense...

Most of the game, our CBs were playing 10yds off the line of scrimmage and giving the short route to the offense.

They were lettin them catch everything...you aint gonna win when they move the ball like that. We let Matt Cassel look like a superstar yesterday, it was very upsetting. We need some better CB's, i been sayin that since August. The offense put up 28 points, theres no way u can win allowing 48.

I pretty much agree with you, but we never challenged them until it was too late. Why in the world did we not use the same gameplan we had for the first game???? Ferguson said it himself, they were shocked when NE started passing so much. I mean everybody knew they were going to start shooting from the get go. That to me was the difference, By the time they tried to change, it was to late. Football is a game of momentum and the Pats were already rolling on us. Bad coaching!!!

Why doesn't anyone ever like to admit the players got beat? Hey, if the Rams watched that game you can bet vthey bwill try the same thing. We will see how it turns out.

We don't have the talent in the secondary to play any closer than 10 yards off. Then Jason Allen still misses a tackle on a stick figure for a TD. we will start on that secondary next year. You can only do so much with a 1-15 team in a year and the secondary is about our only weakness besides ST's.

Moss on (anyone in our secondary) one on one single coverage I'll take that matchup all day if I'm Cassel.

And he did. For a few TD's.

It's not like we have Cromartie back there who can run and jump with Moss.

I think everybody needed to do a better job and players and coaches will probably agree with that. That being said, for fans like me that have this sick feeling this morning, go to forums.chargers.com. Our situation could be worse if we have Norv Turner as a head coach. He ruined our season is 2003 with 3 pass play at the end of the last game against the Pats while having Ricky in the backfield. Then, he killed the Redskins, the Raiders and now, the Chargers. Some says that he helped Alex Smith for his breakout season. Wow. Dolfans that watched how he managed the last moment of the game yesterday will feel fortunate to have Tony Sparano.

pasqualoni looked dumbfounded on the sideline. It was a good gameplan by the pats give them credit, but as far as i can remember no one has ever shut down randy moss playing 8 yards off of him, someone needed to be on the line punching him in the chest and wearing him out.

How can you blame the coaches? There was nothing they could do to make the secondary better at covering randy moss.

Poop is still poop no matter how you arrange it, and the same goes for our secondary. And really, as a whole, we're not very good on defense. Looks for 3-6 new starts on D next year. Seriously.
