Coaching Question, Tomlin-Mcdummy

Sitting here watching the Steelers with my son. He's telling me there's talks about Steelers brass not happy with Tomlin currently.

If the Steelers fire Tomlin, and we retain mcdummy over hiring him, how would that make you feel about this franchise?

For me, I'd totally find something else to do on Sundays next year.
As a tribute to someone dearly departed (banned). Our franchise would be RONG if they didn’t make a move for Tomlin.

Regarding you, “totally finding something else to do on Sundays next year”….can we expedite that to this year? 🤣 joking brother. Someone needs to have some humor after a victory.

Exactly -- I agree he is a top 3 - 5 coach in the league, or somewhere in this mix:

Reid
Harbaugh
McVay
Harbaugh
Tomlin
Shanahan
Campbell
I'm finding it rather ironic that five of these seven supposedly 'elite' NFL head coaches are coming off losses in their most recent games.

If the playoffs were to start next weekend, only four of these seven would be coaching in them.

I do not find it ironic that you are judging coaches in a vacuum.

Oh yes we can have lots of no nonsense and discipline while going 9-8 every year like they do now. Excellent idea. What in the fk has tomlin done without roethlisburger? I dont care if the dolphins ever win another game, i hope ross extends mcdaniel again and gives him tua money so you guys are stuck squirming in your booster seat every sunday.

Wanny was terrible. He had good team and ran it into ground. Tomlin would make these guy play in Miami. Tomlin would be great fit for Miami.
He hasn't won a playoff game since the 2017 season. He's done nothing without Big Ben.

If we want someone to come in and be a hard assed disciplinarian who guarantees you pick in the 15-20 range each year then he's your man.

Season after season Tomlin does have winning records.I think he could turn things around. And make us competitive every year.

I'm already not watching, but if McDaniel survives to coach this team next season, which he is totally on track to do, he has at least been given another chance. Note that I do not say he has earned it. Regardless of that, adversities such as this one, with the QB and the loss of the GM, can sometimes summon growth in a HC who has had to be accountable for his team's performance.

Didn't we pass on Tomlin before because he was too "hip hop?"
This team 🙄
This team, and especially its fanbase, passes on everyone. It passed on Pete Carroll, Sean Payton, Vrabel, etc. Specifically, I'm referring to people on this forum who poo-pooed big time at the idea of Carroll when he was returning to the NFL. There were even people in this fanbase clamoring for Jack McDaniels over anyone with any sort of track record.

We haven't hired an actual football head coach in forever.

IMO Tomlin is like the Tua of HCs - he needs everything around him to be "perfect" for him to be effective. But on his own, he is not a difference maker. Those kind of "situations" are absolutely NOT sustainable. More and more the NFL is like a grab bag every year -- and you need a HC who can weave a coherent whole from assorted material. McD may be better at that than Tomlin -- and I'm not a McD fan at this point.
