Does anyone understand the plan or process, Ross & Ireland have put together in their search for our next HC?

We have interviewed, Jeff Fisher, Dave Toub, Joe Philbin, Todd Bowles & Mike Zimmer. We plan to interview Mike McCoy.

I did not understand why we seemed to go 'all out' for Jeff Fisher. He is a very, very conservative HC, in what has now become a pass aggressive league.

I like Mike Zimmer, but, we have Mike Nolan. Through a poor season we have what is the 6th best defense in points conceded. Mike Nolan has stated he wants to remain as a DC. Why not keep the one strength we have in place and then concentrate on solving the problems we do have?

Joe Philbin & Mike McCoy. What qualifies these guys more than Rob Chudzinski. Mike McCarthy calls the plays in GB and McCoy has introduced a watered down Urban Meyer offense. When McCoy had Kyle Orton as QB, the offense dropped off dramatically from the previous year when Josh McDaniels was calling the plays. In my mind, Josh McDaniels (100% do not want as HC) would be far more qualified than Mike McCoy.

Todd Bowles. He is the secondary coach and in my mind that is the worst part of what is a successful D. So what qualifies him more than Mike Nolan.

I like the idea of Dave Toub with an experienced OC, maybe Hugh Jackson teamed with Nolan.

Why did they not sit down, simplify it and say, right, we have the Defense as a foundation to build on. First priority is to keep Mike Nolan. Secondly, successful NFL teams are now bulit on an aggressive, pass orientated offense, with a top QB. Lets hire a HC who can implement this and concentrate on what we MUST get, a QB with the potential to take us to SB.

With this I would have interviewed Rob Chudzinski, Chip Kelly, Bill O'Brien, Scott Linehan, Les Miles & Hugh Jackson and acted early.

Without knowing how each guy would have come across during interview process, my 1st choice would be Rob Chudzinksi, which would then follow on with Shula becoming OC.

I would then have instructed Ireland to do everything he can including trading every draft pick we have this year to Rams to get the no.2 pick.

I would be delighted going into 2012, with, HC - Rob Chudzinski, OC - Mike Shula, DC - Mike Nolan, 80% of current roster, Matt Moore as QB, with RGIII waiting in wings.

I think their plan is pretty obvious. Jeff Ireland wanted to puruse Jeff Fisher, so they did. They have other names on the list to look at.

The reason you do not keep Mike Nolan is because he will never coach an elite defense. Go look at the past ten years of Baltimore defenses. The only years they weren't elite were the years Mike Nolan was the defensive coordinator. Mike Nolan has tremendous problems adjusting his defense. His M.O. throughout his career is that his defenses typically start well and then fade. This year, they started poorly and got better, and the talk is that it got better because Todd Bowles either took over the play calling and/or was given more input on what to do defensively.

You hire Mike Zimmer because he is flat out a better coach than Mike Nolan.

Todd Bowles took over the playcalling..............no chance!

If at any time the playcalling duties had been taken away from Mike Nolan, im 100% sure Mike Nolan would have been demanding to leave, im also 100% we would have heard about it before someone mentioned it on a miami forum and im 100% sure he would not still be here.........no matter how long it lasts.

Perhaps Zimmer has more of the intangibles to be a successful head coach than Nolan has or showed? There is a lot more to being a head coach that statistical rankings.

I dont understand this love for Todd Bowles. Our secondary was the worst element of our D, yet Mike Nolan has us top 6 in pts against, even though we had a pis poor offense and still people cry out for Todd Bowles!

Fair comment, but Im not shouting Nolan's name for HC. My argument is that our D is currently a strength to build off. Why not keep Nolan and look for a HC who is going to improve us offensively.

Because head coaches don't gameplan on particular side of the team. Don't matter what side of the ball they coach, OC and DC are the ones that dictate how a gameplan will play out over a game
