College Football 2005

Once Ohio State beats Texas ( at home, I'll be there) its basically a given that we will be playing USC in the Rose Bowl.

We can beat Iowa at the shoe, we really haven'y got that difficult a scchedule (Texas, Iowa, Michigan) but its harder than USC's.

So then it will be USC vs Ohio State in the Rose bowl.. Nobody will give Ohio State a chance, it will be a 5-8 point spread. And then ohio State will win, just like they did in 02. And everyone will be surprised except OSu and other Big ten fans that know that Big ten football is head and shoulders above the rest.

Are you kidding. There has been talk of Ted Ginn playing both ways. if that happens we have two shutdown corners who will be drafted in the first round of the NFL draft.

On offense nobody can stop Ginn. And we still have Santonio Holmes, another 1st rounder.

On defense our Linebackers are the best in the nation, no contest. Schlegel, Carpenter, and Hawk.

Honestly, i don't care what anyone else thinks when it comes to OSU... They are constantly doubted, and they will come through.

I've always thought they've been constantly over-rated personally. They did have a good run a couple years back. I know they are definitely solid at LB and WR. I wouldn't exactly call Ginn a shutdown corner though. How are they looking at QB and RB?

You wouldn't?
Maybe thats because you don't know much about him...

The latest in a recent line of outstanding student-athletes from Glenville who have decided to wear scarlet and gray ... perhaps the most sought after defensive back prospect in the nation last year ... is expected to vie immediately for playing time, either at cornerback or with the special teams ... has great cover skills and outstanding speed ... played for his father, Ted Ginn Sr., in high school and is well schooled in every aspect of the game ... was selected as the USA Today Defensive Player of the Year ... also a 2004 Parade All-American ... SuperPrep named him as their 2004 National Defensive Player of the Year ... Prep Football Report rated him as the third best overall prospect in the nation and the top defensive prospect ... Rivals.com rated him as the top overall prospect in Ohio and the second best player in the country ...was named the Most Valuable Player of the U.S. Army All-America game ... also played quarterback, wide receiver and running back for Glenville and returned punts and kickoffs ... as a senior, picked off eight passes and returned five of them for touchdowns ... one of his interception returns went for a state-record 102-yard touchdown, while another went for a 97-yard score ... also passed for 932 yards and 12 touchdowns and rushed for 845 yards and 17 touchdowns ... named one of Ohio's three 2003 Division I Offensive Players of the Year ... returned four punts and one kickoff for touchdowns ... the national champion in the 110 high hurdles as a junior and the best time in the nation as a senior when he won the state title for the second consecutive year ... has been timed at 10.5 seconds in the 100 meter dash.

He is most certainly a shut down corner, he's the fastest player in the nation (faster than reggie bush)

Trust me, put your $$ on Ohio State this year.

Wow, honestly, no I didn't know THAT much about him. I thought he was a standout WR they were trying to put at CB too. Obviously it looks like its the other way around. Impressive resume.

So, back to my question. How good is OSU at QB and RB?

Yeah, he's a CB first... Thats what he was recruited as...but we don't put freshman at Cb for the most part...

If he plays CB, he'll get limited time on offense or returns, more of a specialist, but considering he scores a TD 1 out of every 7 times he touched the ball last year (55 touches, 8 TDs) he dosen't need to be full time.

At QB we have Troy Smith. He's a pretty good passer, but he can flat out run also. We started with Justin Zwick last year, trying to have the conservative offense we had with Krenzel when we won the championship.

That didn't work because we didn't and don't have a game breaking RB like Clarett. Our strength is at WR, so when we brought in Troy Smith and opened up the offense we started playing much better.

Troy Smith pretty much won the job (even though he missed the bowl game and will miss the opener against Miami of OH from the booster $$ thing) against Michigan. He had the greatest performance by a Buckeye QB against Michigan ever...passing for 241 yds, 2 TD's 0 INTs and added another 145 yds and a TD on the ground.

At RB we have some young fast guys, who are relativly unproven.. The though is, with the threats we have at WR, and the running the QB provides, one of the three big fast RB's will step up.

we'll see, but its a good year to be a buckeye fan.

LOL You need to get off your hight horse. OSU only has one great cb. The best cb prospect in the big ten is Alan Zemaitis and he is a late 1st round prejected. No where can I find Ashton Youboty (your best corner) in any top 20 for the 2006 (where they rate juniors and seniors) draft. In the 2007 draft he is projected late 1st early 2nd. And you dont even know who is going to start at the other cornerback position. Donte Whitner was was tried out with little success, so the hope is for Tyler Everett to take over the role rather than stay at strong safety.

So to say you have have two shut down corners is a little much.
