I think its really interesting how the Colts are made made almost entirely of guys like: Petyon Manning, Reggie Wayne, Joe Addai, Dwight Freeny, Bob Sanders, ect, while the Saints are made of guys like: Drew Brees, Daren Sharper, Jonathan Vilma, Jeremy Shockey.

The Colts are made almost entirely of home grown talent, while the Saints consist of alot of key free agent pick ups. I think following the blue print of the Colts ensures sustained success. While teams like the Saints tend to be up and down. Just something interesting to think about.

If you look at your most recent Super Bowl champions (Steelers, Giants, Colts, Patriots) they were all basically built from within.

While the Saints caught lightning in a bottle with guys like Sharper, Brees, etc. I would much prefer the formula the Colts are using.

I could see the Saints being an 8-8 team again next year. I don't see that happening with the Colts.

Build from within and then keep replacing those guys with players you drafted. That's the winning formula.

The winning formula is to draft well and not draft crappy players like Pat White and Patrick Turner in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

And not drafting crap like Jason Allen and Ted Ginn in the 1st round.

Quite a few of the Fins decent players have come from the draft:

Long
Henne
Brown
Hartline
Bess mine as well be considered drafted
Carey
Soliai
Langford
Merling
JT
Davis
Smith
Bell

I think the list of productive FAs is a bit shorter. Ricky, Grove, Smiley, Starks, Ferguson if he comes back. I think Cobbs was a FA too.

We competed with both these teams this year but did not have the longevity like they have. I like where we are heading.

The Dolphins have a horrible drafting history, period, if you really step back and look at it. For as much effort and focus as we put on it, the draft is more likely than not to disappoint, down the road.

Miami hasn't drafted well in 40 years, not in terms of stringing together years with premier players. Hardly a coincidence we haven't won a championship in 36 years when our peak drafts were 1967-1970.

The George Wilson era was Miami Dolphin drafting at its best.

The way the Colts roster has been assembled is very impressive. To be as good as they are for as long as they have sustained it and win as much as they have is some feat. Only three losings seasons since '93 and no worse than 10-6 since '01 is extremely good. Mind you, just one Superbowl in that time (while other teams they've had superior regular season records to have won multiple Superbowls) tarnishes it a bit. A second this year would give them some more 'bragging rights'.

Is there even a single starter for the Colts, on offence or defence, who has played for another NFL team? Surely there must be.

While the Saints biggest signing was Drew Brees they have a ton of talent they acquired through the draft -

Offense
RT - Jon Stincomb (Pro Bowl)
RG - Jahri Evans (Pro Bowl)
LG - Carl Nicks
LT - Jermon Bushrod, Jammal Brown
WR - Marques Colston
WR - Devery Henderson
WR - Robert Meachem
RB - Reggie Bush

Defense
DE - Will Smith (Pro Bowl)
DE - Charles Grant
DT - Sederick Ellis
CB - Tracy Porter
SS - Roman Harper (Pro Bowl)

Saints GM Mickey Loomis has done a very good job using both the draft and FA to put talent around Brees.

Think that it should be a good Super Bowl. With two great QBs. As when the Saints got Drew Brees, the team changed and plus they needed a turn around. After the events of Katrina hit.
