Commentary: 2005 Quarterback Grades

Nice write up. Well thought out. I agree with the grades, but not the trade. That doesn't take away from the commentary as it was well done.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Very good commentary. I think the QB grading was right on target.

As a Nole fan I really like the Watkins pick. The guy is 6'4.....Is there another S in the league at that height. I dont think Cutler will be there at 25, at this point Im not sure he will be there at 15. I see him alot like I did Rivers a few years ago, guy has the talent just played for a substandard school. Once he plays at the senior bowl, and has his combine I think he will move up alot of draft boards. I have him as the 2nd best Senior QB, and with several teams looking for a QB he may not be there. If we stay put we may get a guy like Chad Greenway who could step in right away and fill Juniors shoes.

It will be intersting to see, I will be at Senior Bowl week as much as possible, I put in for my vacation time during that week, so I guess that will be my spring break. I want to take a better look at Jay, talk to a few scouts that I hope will be there again this year and get a better grade on him. As for Greenway, I'd be psyched if we got him at 15 ... he or Huff would be a great pick.

I'm not sure how anyone can justify the Broncos trading their 2 1st round picks for a TE when there could be 3 great TE's in this draft (Lewis, Davis, Pope). They could take Davis at their pick and still make out great, better prospect than Miller last year IMO. All three will be gone by the middle of the 2nd round easy.

Overall I thought the grades were pretty good, thanks for your thoughts.

There's some doubt whether Cutler would be ther for us at 15; being there at 25 seems even less likely, and without him, your whole draft strategy implodes (must have a young potential franchise qb).

Could Cutler really still be around at #25? I've heard hes a top 10 pick...

I think Sage's grade should be lower than a C. Did everyone really forget aobut the Browns game immediately after the Bills game
No way should he be higher than Gus. I would give Sage a D+, as a QB. There was a ton of value in trading AJ Feeley, it saved us millions. For the Chargers, it was a new face and new expense, no value for them. Gus deserved the C, even with the shaky numbers.

Too much focus on the O-line. Although, I like the idea of getting Degory in the second round, if he is still there. Saban will have to decide whether or not to go QB in the first round. If he doesn't, then he will most likely get a QB in free agency or somewhere else. I like that idea. Go defense with the first round pick.

Especially considering Hadnot can start at C and we can sign a guy like Fonoti for cheap, we don't need to spend that many picks. If LT looks like the BPA at the pick then fire, but otherwise don't overspend on OL. It's not like we haven't picked OL the last few years...

Good read and nice ratings on the QB's im not sure if Sage is going to be around next season though!

Nice write-up. Why not Marcus McNeill at #20 though?

Because of his run blocking McNeil projects more as a RT.

everyone cannot just sit around and mope draft day if we lose out on cutler. there is still going to be good qb potential for the taking and i still think we can mold a QB to be a field general for our offense. people seem to forget about drew olsen, michael robinson and other talents that are there.
