COMMENTARY: Just Good Enough to Lose

Disagree with the playcalling being good...agree with just about everything else.

I think it's a pretty good commentary. I like that it doesn't randomly throw Mularkey to the dogs but is still appropriately critical of him.

With Travis Daniels and Andre Goodman hurt, Nick Saban had little alternative but to go with Eddie Jackson, but what I don't understand (and probably never will) is why so many coaches insist that "Corner A plays the left, and Corner B the right", and that's it. Why wasn't Will Allen, the only competent Dolphins corner, covering Coles, the only competent Jets receiver, every play? Why was Jackson thrown to the wolves?
Saban addressed that in the press conference today. They prefer to play it as you described but the Jets were running hurry-up and rather than get caught in the middle of trying to swap sides of the field and maybe end up with one or both of them not in position on a quick count they elected to keep them on the sides they were already on.

classic lines:lol:

If Mike Mularkey finally ignores, for the entire game instead of most of it, the invisible leprechaun in the coaching booth that tells him to call stupid plays...
If either Eddie Jackson or Travares Tillman takes up a vocation other than professional football...

I dont agree with corner A following the best Wr on the other team..I just wish we had a corner B not a corner d or F on Wr #1..

..man do I miss Wil Poole:boohoo:

I miss Patrick :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:

I miss Madison, Surtain and Schulters :boohoo: I hate what Sabans done with this secondary.

I saw that. Unfortunately, it was after the article had been posted. So I'm being a bit too critical of Saban for that. Mea culpa.

Thanks Jimmy! I thought Mularkey did a pretty decent job on balance. It was just that one inexplicable call that bothered me. Other than that, I thought he struck a good balance between run and pass, and didn't go pass-happy until he absolutely had to. Can't fault him for the three turnovers or the multitude of drops.

You know I have high standards. :)

If only everyone here could just react instead of overreacting...it would be a much more readable board much of the time.

Dammit Jimmy... A-men...

will read article tomorrow during coffee, phunwin

I miss our Pro Bowl secondaries. That secondary grade for the Jets game is too high. Philip Buchanon might solve our woes or at least be better than Eddie Jackson.

It couldn't hurt, but if Buchanon couldn't hack it with the Texans, I tend to doubt he can help us.
