Commentary: Maybe Upgrading at QB Won’t Be So Hard After All

Good article. I say shellout the cash for Brees. We are so close to making a huge playoff run, we have alot of pieces in place, a play making QB like Brees would give us such a huge advantage.

Since the day A.J. Smith went public about possible free agency (last Friday), I've firmly believed that he'll be a Dolphin in early March.

It's destiny.

Thanks, all!

Also, thanks to Muck for the idea. I knew the track record of quality QBs in UFA was very limited, but didn't know how limited until Muck prodded me to do a little research. It's mind boggling that Brees is probably the best QB ever to become an unrestricted free agent. I mean, he's a fine QB and all, but the best UFA ever? Seems strange, yet here we are. And that underscores how rare this opportunity is.

Incidentally, for the Culpepper backers out there, don't take this as a slight. Either guy we get would be just fine by me.

It's destiny. Nick Saban was destiny. The pieces are falling into place.

Drink you're Kool-aid.

Jut don't lace it with anything.

Right now, I'd say there's about a 45% chance we sign Brees, 45% that we trade for Culpepper, with 10% left over for Plan C.

if we get brees, charles lebently, julian peterson and a corner.....we will dominate in 2006.

I don't know that we'll have enough money for Brees, Bentley AND Peterson. I think you can secure two of them, tops.

Yeah, that's a heck of a shopping list unless Nick Saban's planning to have about a dozen undrafted free agents on the roster.
