COMMENTARY: Playoffs: FinHeaven's Recipe to get there

that whole breakdown was spot on...for us and 14 other teams.

Very nice summary. Here is the way I look at it. I think that Indy will likely get one of the remaining Wild Card spots...thanks to the Texans totally falling apart in their game against Indy (Of course the Texans did not roll over when they played us, and this one point loss to the Texans may be what makes/breaks our season).

I think our best shot is to win the division outright. If we get past the Bills, I think the Chiefs and 49ers are two teams we can beat as long as we remained focused. Then we would face the Jets for the division title, assuming the Jets don't fall apart. The Pats would have no say in who wins the division.

The other shot is to win the last WC spot and it looks like this would mean we need to overtake the Baltimore Ravens...the Steelers could also slide out of first as they have a tough remaining schedule, so we have to root for whoever is playing the Ravens, Steelers, and Colts. I am just happy we are in playoff contention.

so if we score more points than the other team... we'll beat them! and if we beat all the teams we go to the playoffs?!?!

This last run and any potential playoff success will be all about Defense (can we hold teams to less than 24 points). We will go as far as this defense can take us ... along with improved special teams play and an offense that can score (can we score more than 24 points) and doesn't turn the ball over.

Here is the 4 keys to getting to the playoffs, in order.

Win
Win
Win
Win

There you go!

There is a legitimate scenario where Miami is the 2nd playoff seed. Miami would have to win all four remaining games. Pittsburgh would have to lose the following games:

Week 14: Dallas at Pittsburgh: 9-4
Week 15: Pittsburgh at Baltimore: 9-5
Week 16: Pittsburgh at Tennesee: 9-6

In week 17 the steelers can win at home against the browns and go 10-6. Miami's four wins would place them at 11-5 and earn the second seed. In addition, Baltimore would have to lose to Washington on Sunday and Dallas in two weeks.

You call that legit?? Im sorry my friend, but that is reaching for the stars. Trust me, if that was to happen, I would be the happiest person on Earth, but I just dont find it too realistic. The Steelers are too good to lose all three of those games. But hey, I mean we did land on the moon so anything is possible.

If Miami wins their next FOUR we win the AFC East and it doesn't matter what the Steelers, Ravens, Colts, Jets or Pats do....we will be the Fricking AFC East champs. :woot:

There should be no talking about playoffs unless we beat the niners and KC. If we lose one of those games, we're out. Now if we win both of those, our playoffs will start against the Jets on the last day of the regular season.
