I have mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand I would love his leadershiip and his 2005 play on the field, on the other hand, I would love to find a younger version of him, if we're to pay that kind of money, so that we have them for years to come. Bottom line, he's hard to ignore if he becomes available. I know you guys have discussed this, but are you willing to pay the high price of aging vet..if so for how many years..this article is pretty compelling...

If we pick him up, which LB do we get rid of, since they're all younger than he, but one will have to go..and there's some potential in all. Do we say bye-bye Pope who's played great each chance he's had.

I'd love to sign D. Edwards. He was one of the best LB's in the NFL last year. I'm not sure what his price tag is, but he's a very productive player, and would help our defense without question....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I would go for Ahmad Brooks before going for Donnie Edwards. Brooks has alot more upside to help this team in the long run than Edwards does. I also hear that the Patsies are after him.

What LB are you guys willing to cut to get him, and if we sign him, how many years and how much..

i rekon should he be cut we should deffinantly have a serious look at him and if we sign which would be awesome for us imo then we cut eddie moore if he isnt already traded or released or cut donnie spragan

I met Donnie at Disney's ESPN weekend last month. I jokingly ask him if he would like to play in Miami. He said I'm under contract, but I am friends with Hudson Hauck and Ricky Williams, and would love to play for Nick and with Zach, JT, and Junior. He doesnt think Junior is finished.
He is a smart guy, I think he was being politically correct.
We joked about agent I ask if he had Drew Rosenhause and he joked if he had Drew he would get kicked off the team like TO. he has Tom Condon "the best" in his opinion.

I would love to have him. I would offer SD Eddie Moore and a 6th or even a 5th rd pick. We could then move Channing to olb. I would rather have Brooks in the supp draft but I feel we really need one of em.

If he is cut, no question we should go after him. If anything, it will stop the Pats from getting him.

Why wouldnt we try and get him? Like the article said, in the past 7 seasons he is 2nd in tackles behind Zack and with us switching to 3-4 he can be the other inside guy and Crowder can move to outside. I mean seriosly is that not 3 of the best linebackers in the NFL prolly 3 of the top 10 and if not for Crowder 2 of the top 5. I realize we would be cutting a younger guy but who is to say there is not another young guy coming in future drafts? All I see is positives in tis move except for one negative which I just said was losing a young guy that I am sure can be replaceable!

Getting Edwards could be great because we will be getting a proven leader who is a top LB in the NFL and always productive. But there is always a downside to things like this. He is aging up there and Saban's goal was to get younger on defense, not older. Plus we will probably have to give up a pick on him and if we have to give up a pick for a LB, then we should just wait and get Brooks if we can.
