Commentary: Week 2 Gambling Corner

I am not sure what we are talking about but I know taking the pats and colts this week with the lines teased 6.5 pays a little over even money. also for 6.5 point teasers, check out taking the falcons over the seahawks getting 7.5

your logic would suggest taking the under in the pittsburgh/houston game.

Miami went to FSU and got ***** slapped around and showed the world they have problems on offense.

:shakeno:

make sure to PM me with your thoughts after clemson loses by more than 7.

No, that was just a rush job on that write up by me. I am saying Houston's offense isn't as bad as it was last week. That game will go over.

Poor job on my part of an explaniation.

Hey, what's up MikeO?

I do like Florida -6.5 over Tenn. If that line goes to -7...I probably won't feel so hot about it. I'm looking at a couple of games and wanted to know your opinion about them:

1) Balt. -3 1/2 over Tenn. I like Baltimore in this game. I know that the Ravens offense isn't that great. The Ravens usually play great at Tenn. and with all the free agents who left the Titans...I just can't see how this will be that close...even though they are divison rivals. I usually don't like betting against home dogs but...the Titans just are not that good IMO.

2) Det. -1 over Chicago. I really like the Lions offensive weapons. The Bears play well at home and have a good defense. Last week they played the Redskins in Wash. pretty darn good. However, the Bears have a rookie Qb and the Lions weapons on offense really make it enticing to pick the Lions...I feel that they should win by more than 1 pt.

3) San Diego +3 over Denver. This is the game I feel the best about. Even if Champ Bailey plays...I like the Chargers chances to throw the ball in Denver. I know that Denver is a tough home team but I really think that the Chargers are the better team. I envison L.T. getting a lot of carries. He should get more touches than he did last week and Gates has been activiated after serving a 1 game suspension. Like I said...I like the Chargers and the points.

Last week...I took Cincy -3 over Cleveland...and that turned out great but I came back and took the St. Louis -6 over San Fran....and we know how that ended. I did some more research...and what I found was...that the Rams didn't cover the spread 11 times last season...wow. But I fell into that trap...were the Rams looked great in preseason and the 49ers I felt would be the worst team this year and would get smoked but the Rams...WRONG.

Anyway...I would appreciate your comments.

Thanks for the kind words. My thoughts..........I don't like any of the pro games you picked. Not that they are bad picks, if a gun to my head I would go the same way you did. But I wouldn't put money on them. I love Florida this week. 6.5, 7, or even 8. Tenn doesn't have a QB and I think Urban Myer will want a showcase game to put his team on the map...this is it!

wow...none of those...okay that's cool. now why do you like Tampa over Buffalo? I think Buffalo's D is good enough to win that game even if the Bills O isn't that great.

How about the Jags +9 over Colts? I like the Jags in this game getting 9 pts. but Manning & Co. have are an offensive machine...that worry's me a bit...I see that you like that game.

The Packs and Browns...well, I think the Pack sucks this year...they lost J. Walker and two o-lineman got injured last week...I seriously feel that the Browns win this game in Green Bay...in a close one.

I saw Seattle and Denver go to Florida last week and DIE IN THE HEAT! Same will happen to Buffalo.

Jags have a tough defense which will slow Indy down. Keep them within 9. Jax always plays close tight games.

Cleveland sucks!

Nice writeup, Mike.

A few thoughts of my own...

GB over the Browns as your Stone Cold Steve Austin lock of the week (or whatever it is)? Really? Are you sure? Because the Packers suck this year. I mean, they are terrible. This looks like the year when we'll look back and say "yup, Brett Favre stuck around a year too long." And his defense is still awful, and he's without his best receiver. I don't know that the Browns win, but they'll keep it close enough.

I'm on board with the Jags, though. Indy's getting WAY too much love right now, and that's a very good Jax team. Wouldn't shock me in the least if they won outright. I also think Houston's offense will be much improved.

One other complaint: Miami should handle Clemson easily; I don't see them starting 0-2. They completely outplayed FSU last week and got some extra rest to work out their problems. Of course, I may be leading with my heart, not my head, on that one.

One request: in the future, could you put the home team in caps? That's very helpful in talking about these lines. Thanks.

Miami got bitchslapped around? wow... 10-7, and i really thought Miami's D owned and could have easily won that game if not for a few mistakes ... FSU's quarterback got benched, not Miami's ... did FSU move the ball at all? i don't remember one sustained drive... :D

FSU's defense did ***** slap Miami's offense. Sorry, it's true!

Thanks for the kind words.

I can do that. Notion never even crossed my mind to be honest but I can start that for next week.

clemson will beat miami

They did last year.

Not saying it will happen again, but Miami is going to wish they stayed in the BIG EAST i have a feeling. I think the days of automatic BCS bowls are long gone for them. Which if they stayed in the Big East those would have continued forever!
