Haven't seen this discussed much, but this is the reason why we would finish behind Denver at the moment.
Miami,Oakland,KC,Denver have all lost to only 1 NFC opponent. Meaning if Miami ends up with the same record as ANY of those teams they will have the same CONF record as them.
So the next tie-breaker is games vs common opponenets.
Miami vs Denver Common Games
New England (Fins 0-1, Broncos 0-0)
San Diego (Fins 1-0. Broncos 1-1)
Titans (Fins 0-1, Broncos 0-1)
Cincy (Fins 0-1, Broncos 1-0)
Right now.....Fins 1-3, Denver 2-2. If Denver loses to NE yet wins the other two games and Miami losses to Buff yet beats NE this TB gets throw out and it then goes to the next
one which is Strentgh of Victory.
Just for Fun let's try t with Oakland and KC either at 5 or 6 L's
Miami vs KC Common Games
Jets (Fins 2-0, KC 1-0)
SD (Fins 1-0, KC 1-0)
Titans (Fins 0-1, KC 0-0)
Steelers (Fins 1-0, KC 0-1)
Right now....Fins 3-2, KC 2-1. If losses to Titans today, then all of a sudden they come into play as being catchable for Miami.
I don't thik they will, or that they will lose to Denver, but what that would mean is Miami could head into next week just needing a win
over Buffalo to control their own destiny no matter what happens with Denver vs NE. They would be ahead of the loser of KC vs Denver regardless or
that if Miami did claim a wild card at 5 or 6 L's they'd pass KC in a H2H for the 5th seed.
Miami vs Oakland common opponents.
Buffalo (Fins 1-0...Oak 1-0)
SD (Fins 1-0....Oak 1-0)
Titans (Fins 0-1, Oak 1-0)
Baltiemore (Fins 0-1, Oak 1-0)
Right now...Fins 2-2, Oakland 4-0). We have no way to win this specific breaker vs the Raiders. Unless we won out and the Raiders lost out we could not pass them.
Just wanted to put this out there, because it seems people are confused of who to root for in KC vs Tenn. You want the Titans to win. If Titans wi out they win the Divsion. If they don't we don't have to worry about them. Their is a realistic chance we pas the Chiefs if they lost today.
