It appears that Carl Peterson is standing firm on only giving up a 4th for Pat. Well, I have a solution.

Miami should get a 4th round pick every year up to & including 2010 for Surtain. :roflmao:

Well then I cant say im disappointed- we still have our pro-bowl CB who we could potentially re-sign longterm or franchise next season, depending on our cap situation.

Really we have no loss- its the Chiefs who will be losing games 1100-900.

:roflmao: Their D is as bad as our O was last year...maybe even worse. Moss should really enjoy those 2 games!

I mean, what's the worst-case scenario? We keep a Pro-Bowl corner?

OH NO!

I'd trade Surtain for a second, but just barely. I'm totally fine with keeping him as long as the contract is not irrational.

Keep Surtain. He will hold out training camp. Then come late August we trade him like we did with O-Gun when a team has an injury or two at the CB position. We acquire a 2006 draft pick.

SCREW KC!

Sooner or later the Chiefs will give up there second. They can't cover Moss with the people they have.

Both Chiefs fans and Dolphins are being stupid about this trade...

Chiefs fans need to realize that we need defense in a really bad way, Surtain is our only healthy option at this point. We have very good WR in our division and we will need all the help we can get... We have 2 good years with our core offense before we lose them (Trent, O line, Priest) and we need to take advantage of this window.

Dolphin fans need to realize that Saban has 5 picks in this years draft and thats not enough, also TB will not trade with them in the end and no other teams will be in the mix for Surtain until after the draft because this draft has 8-10 cb's that will be good NFL players... Law is also an option, not healthy now but come season time, I have no doubt he will be good for whoever he plays...

No one wants to budge:shakeno: ... But Saban cannot just hav 5 picks in this draft, and I think he wants more than just a 2... that would only give him 6... I think he will take a 3 (Chiefs will trade down in the 1st or 2nd to get this), 5 and 7 for Surtain this year and Saban gets his picks...

Saban wants to deal Surtain because he wants to develop the cb core he has now... taking time from the youngters will hurt their development... Miami is not going for the SB or playoffs they are rebuilding with Saban and Patrick is not in the Future... They want to get as much from him as they can... if they wait until FA they will get a 3rd in 2007, that really wont help much, and having him on the roster will kill cap space that they could use on younger future talent...

There is rumors in KC that Carl will do this on Friday (for the 2nd) or wait until they trade down in the draft (for the lower 2nd/3rd/4th/whatever).

Anyways my .02, but Dolphin fans need to realize they are backed up as much as the chiefs are.... Surtain will be positive as a playmaker non playoff year if he stays a Dolphin, with a big cap hit and a negative in your CB core development.... It will hurt the chiefs only if Law cannot comeback...

I just want this deal to get done...

Ogun was making minimum thats why he held out... surtain will not hold out if he stays. he is still making a lot of money. if he stays on the team, he will play his *** off this year so that he can make and be worth the money he is asking for following next year since he will be a FA. he knows that all holding out would do is drop his stock in the FA market. next season will be an audition for other teams if he isnt traded.

Am I the only one who found it really odd that the Chiefs would go so far as to negotiate a deal with a CB (Surtain) while the CB was still under contract to another team?

I think that we have been taken to task, and rightfully so, for saying that we would accept a 2nd rounder and nothing else. Our lack of flexibility has hampered this deal from the beginning.

That being said, the fact that KC would openly negotiate a contract with a Dolphins player - and then announce it - hampers their ability to complete the trade. They obviously want the player, they have made that clear.

So what happens now? Well, I think we are witnessing it. Much like the rumored Shelton/Henry trade, this deal has stalled because both sides have said too much. All in all, I expect Surtain to be in a Griefs uni next year ... but that's just my gut feeling.

surtain has already stated that he would love to remain a dolphin. He will not hold out. that is rediculous. He under contract making alot of jack. We will have extra picks by either Tampa or Min. Things seem to be going our way this year for a change. I just wish we could find a way to keep pat. If not we should get a 2nd. so with a trade with the cheif and min/tampa , we could have either 2 1st round picks and a 2nd or a 1st and 2ea: 2nd & third round picks. That sounds like enough picks for me....

Man.. what do you want him to say while he is under contract... that he hates Miami and he wants out... he will be makin 8 mill this year in Miami, he will be makeing more as a chief... This is more PR than anything... He doesnt want a fall out with the Miami organization... Look at TO's issue, now he wants more money because they underpaid him last year and this year because he wanted out... they had to get a trade done and he took a lot less money to leave.... if you get picks from minny and Tampa...

Surtain doesnt want that to happen... If he remains a dolphin, fans will still like him, if he becomes a chief, Im sure he will state that he is happy to be here... PR buddy...

Also, if you do get a lot of picks on DAY 1, you need to realize the cap hit that the rookies will take, you can only prorate their contracts for 5 years instead of 6 ot 7 now...

Keeping Surtain will not allow you to sign all your picks...

I think that Surtain is worth alteast a first so i would try asking for a first next year
