Hasn't Sears been transforming himself into a guard? Also McCauley as an early 2nd round pick :/? Plus why resign Vickerson and Taylor, just to go end up drafting Branch with our 1st overall pick when we are missing starters at other positions?

Also another thing! Taylor over Higgins or another speed guy :/? Is ronnie going to be returning kicks now?

If Alleman is there in the 3rd and we don't take him, I might cry. I like Blaylock more, but would be happy with Sears since he can play both T and G like Blaylock.

Such is the mystery of the almighty mock draft. Peace be with yee.

Wouldn't mind that at all. Sears is versatile and battle-tested in the SEC.

As for why we would draft Branch, he has the ability to play all along the line but, most importantly, could end up being our anchor nose tackle for the future. We have prospects at that position right now but no guarantees, and Traylor is a year or two away from retirement.

So while I would probably prefer Landy since I see him helping out right away, if Branch falls to us he is definitely not a bad pick.

If John Wendling is there in the third round we need to grab him. He can play free safety, and he has nice speed, 4.4 40, vertical jump of at least 40 inches, and just hammers people.

That draft didn't have Alleman in the 3rd, and I think Bazuin was in the 2nd, so som of those picks are odd. I don't think Taylor is a day one pick, though he is a tremendous route runner.

I just don't like McCauley at all. He's fast as hell but he's not agile. He got benched this year for poor play. Seems like a major bust in the waiting.

Sounds good to me, plus I went to Fresno State and I want to see the CB do good.

I still just have such a hard time understanding why people want to draft a DL when our D was #4 in the NFL and our O was #20, and we have PLENTY of DL on staff, good ones: Traylor, Evans, Roth, Rodrique Wright, Manny Wright who could be huge for us, Holliday, etc. What on Earth is the mentality that people insist on drafting positions we don't need just because a good player is available at that position???

Just reminds me of Wannspiel all over again.

First i don't see any scenario where Branch is still available for us a #9. Plus Traylor is in his late 30's and Vickerson was a 7th round pick we need a NT that can play the position for the next 10 yrs. Branch is going to be a force in the NFL, which bugs me to say being an OSU fan

Why draft a DL? Because you don't draft for a single season, you do it for the long haul.

Keith Traylor-37
Vonnie Holliday-31
Taylor damn near retired last season
Vickerson and Evans have 2 tackles between them and are yet unproven and projects. Wright is a HUGE question mark.

Branch would start immediately, giving us a fresh rotation with veterans and younger guys and solidifying our DL for years. It would give our aging LB corps a few more years and allow us to focus the rest of our draft on CB (or Safety and maybe move Allen to CB? hmmm...) and the offense. Or...we could draft nothing but offense like some people want on here, and spend the next few years rebuilding our defense rather than keeping it the top notch unit it was last year.

Fear not, Cameron will work on the offense, but you can't forget about the defense in the process or you will be right back to where we are now only on the other side of the ball (a weak defense, strong offense).

Am I on the draft Branch bandwagon? Nope, but I would certainly not be against it. It would be hard to pass on that kind of talent if he were to somehow fall to us.

Don't put all your eggs into one basket because you are damn near certain to be disappointed come draft day with the number of ways we could go that could make an immediate impact on this team.
