I think we all can agree that it would be very unlikely that Capers stays after another year. If any coaching position opens up, he would be a leading candidate, especially if our D does well this year.

Our D-Line coach gets fired for not restructuring, and many thought it was a mistake because our line was very good. Lets not forget the line was very good mostly due to the players and the overall success of our pass rushers. Lets see how Quinn does in NY.

Anyways. I wanted to see what we thought of Reynolds being groomed to be our next DCoordinator after Capers moves on. It seems Cam is bringing in people he knows and who are loyal to him.
Does anybody think that our days of being a hard core Dfense are slowly fading away, and our team will be a point scoring team like St. Louis or NO?

I hope not. D wins in the playoffs. Additionally, I would like to see us stick with the 3-4.

Suggestions on future Dcoord. welcome.

Colts won games in the regular season with offense and their defense stepped up in the post.

You don't need great defense, you need great players who step up when it's all on the line.

I don't agree. No team came knocking this offseason. He has failed two times as a head coach, and teams probably realize he is just a good d-coordinator and not a very good head coach. I think it will be a few years before teams even start interviewing him for another head coach job.

Plus, the trend now seems to going towards first time coaches and not retreads.

True, but players that step up on a consistant basis, are good defenses.

He did well with Carolina. I wouldnt consider his tenure there to be a failure.

Gosh, can Cam coach one game before you ship off his defensive coordinator. If he gets a head coaching job, he gets a head coaching job. Let's cross that bridge when it happens.

I agree. Way too far off to be worrying about that right now. And if it does, I'm sure there will be plenty of DC's to choose from that Cam would be happy with. Let's try and make this year a success before we have teams trying to take our DC as their HC.

Im not shipping him off. Just looking forward. Our front office seems to be preparing for the future IMO. Contracts can be broken for a higher position or different title. At least I hope we have someone to groom rather than hunt for a guy when the time comes...that hasnt worked well for us in the past.

which can easily be broken legitimately (unlike Saban) for a head coaching job.
The Dolphins can block, if it's in Capers contract, any move to another team. Much the way NE did with their assistant coaches.

Saban signed a longer contract, come on you KNOW that doesn't mean ****.

Saban has no heart and took his coona** back to the college game because he couldn't hang with the big boys in the pro's. Should be exciting to see how this team preforms next season since everyone seemed so relax once Saban ran off.
