How many of you are content with the return game right now? If the Dolphins stand pat and do not acquire any return specialists, then it looks like Ginn is going to be doing double duty, or Hartline and Bess will be returning punts.

No, not content at all.
 
Special teams is the weakest part of the Phins right now...offensively and defensively. I would hate to use either Ginn or Bess to return kicks but we may have to.
 
At this point I don't think it has anything to do with the personnel, it has to do with coaching. We need to replace the coach and find one which will use the personnel correctly...that and get Anderson off of any ST. I am so tired of hearing about holding calls on him...
 
I think we need a KR/PR real bad. Sucks we didn't get Figurs thanks to those freaking Lions.
 
Let's see, we hire a new STs Coach and what happens? We get worse. That might tell ya something.
 
Look first it was pre-season. Second alot of the guys who were getting looks on ST are guys who are longer with the team. I think if Miami signs a guy like Justin Miller it will do wonders for our ST. Lets just wait and see what happens.
 
I think Bess wouldn't be a bad choice. Right now, he's our 3rd or 4th WR, and that is a pretty good to have a PR/KR at
 
I think we need to find a return man who can actually contribute to getting us some yards and give us good field position.

I am not near as concerned with the return game as I am with the coverage units. Cleanly fielding and fair catching punts, returning kicks to the 20 is not exciting, but it does not get you beat. Giving up punt returns for TDs gets you beat. It cost us a win last year vs Houston. That cant happen. EVER. That not only concerns me, it haunts me (as much as I will allow Mia Dolphin football to haunt me). Its the thing I am most concerned with, followed closely by the Oline. The return game...whatever. If we could have gotten Figures, great. I dont sweat it either way.

If Chan Gailey, Jeff Jagodzinkski, and the OC and Buffalo have taught us anything its that accountability matters...even in the preseason. You will play how you practice. If TS thinks our STs are fine, then he will keep our ST coach and I will support that decision.

But in doing so, TS now assumes responsibility for how that unit performs. If it sucks, dont tell me in Dec or Jan'10 that we need a STs coach. That would be telling me something then that I told you two weeks ago. And that would not be ok.
 
The thread only makes mention of the return game... do not forget ALL areas of our special teams suck! The return game, and coverage units! There is not one area of special teams i am content with.. not one
