Context for Culpepper's play

T

- running an offense he knows well

- playing behind a crappy line

- no running game

- physically limited, playing at 80%(if that)

Pep is not a HOF QB

I don't know if he will be worth a 2nd round pick

but I will wait til '07 before I decide

Our OL would look a lot better with any average QB. The problem is Daunte He is not a pocket passer, isn't good at reading defenses, takes way too long to get rid of the ball, and just plain makes too many bad plays. Saban made a major mistake betting the future on this guy, he just plain sucks.

he is responsible for sacks, but he is not responsible for half the sacks and he is not responsible for the crappy running game

I watched Mario Williams sack again, Alabi didn't do as bad a job as I thought, Pep could not step up in the pocket

the middle of the line is horrible, but I know Houck can get it fixed this year

all the culpepper haters are ready to jump on him if he is responsible for one sack. regardless if he gets sacked 20 times, if one is his fault he is responsible for us losing. how can you say he makes this offensive line look bad? Does Ronnie BRown make this O line look bad too? bc he isnt exactly running the ball very effectively. why do you blaim daunte but excuse ronnie brown?

Because this is basically the same supporting cast from last year, the only real change was at QB. Daunte is the leader of this offense and hasn't been doing a good job. He is dragging the entire offense down. Open your eyes, quit being a Daunte homer, and you will see.

context?
- playing against the 31st and 32 ranked defenses, the worst two defenses in the NFL (Houston and Tennesee)
-playing against Houston's defense who gave up 98 points and 480 yards per game in their first three games
-playing against opponents who now have a combined 4-11 record (3 of those wins coming from Miami)

I welcome all context

still I think we may be prejudging him

he's not playing with Moss, but he also aint playing with Matt Birk and Bryant McKinnie

open my eyes? are you serious? we didnt go on our winning streak until ricky williams was tearing it up, and he was a big part of our winning. ronnie has done NOTHING this year. Randy is being used to help the O line instead of being a recieving option. last year our OLINe gave up 29 sacks. this year we are almost there already. Last year we had a guy named SCOTT LINEHAN who was a pretty good play caller. this year we have a moron named mularkey. Open my eyes? you want to tell me that just because we have a new qb he is the reason why this offense is bad, but i need to open my eyes? how about you open your eyes and watch a game. come back and tell me this offensive line is blocking as well as it was last year. tell me that the running game is better. how about this - ronnie is the same runningback we had last year, and this year is is doing nothing. obviously that is dauntes fault too, right?the o line cant open a hole for ronnie, who is being tackled before he gets to the line of scrimmage, but daunte is the new guy so its all his fault

Sorry for using the "open your eyes" phrase that does come across poorly. You make some good points, and I agree that the entire offense is playing inept, we just differ in that I believe a lot of that blame is squarely on Daunte. Time will tell. I'd rather be wrong than right on this one but I'm afraid I'm not.

If Joe Namth can get into the HOF, Culpepper, you, me, and the one arm man can get in.
