Contract discussions haven't started yet between the Dolphins and the representatives of second-round picks quarterback John Beck and center Samson Satele. Neil Cornrich, agent for Dolphins first-round receiver/returner Ted Ginn Jr., says he doesn't discuss negotiations.

However, Beck's agent, Justin Schulman of Athletes First, doesn't anticipate any problems in getting a deal done before the start of training camp in late July.

I wonder what agent goes on record with the press in May saying they anticipate difficulty geting their client signed by training camp.

Too many agents say things like this. I'll believe him when it happens.

There should be absoloutley no prblem with Beck, he is a second round pick. He is the only one I care about being signed by TC. Ginn just better not holdout, "Mr. I come From a Good Family."

Seriously if Ginn held out how big of an ... would this make Cameron look after all he said about knowing Ginns family lol o man.

Injured players really don't the edge when negotiating contracts. Also, with Wayne's stance on picks reporting to camp on time... I think we will have nothing to worry about.

Also, it is going to depend on how the players around Ginn get paid (Anderon & Okoye)

I believe Athletes First represented Cutler last year and he was in training camp for the Broncos. I hope that means they are reasonable to deal with.

Beck needs to be in training camp day 1.

Agreed. Ginn and his agent would have a lot of nerve prolonging negotiations. He should be one of the initial 1st rd picks to sign. Cam and Mueller put a lot of faith in the guy drafting him when he was still hobbled and taking a lot of heat from the fans and media.
It's not as if Ginn is a polished WR ready to step in as a starter, because he is not, and his agent should know that.

beck just doesnt strike me as a guy thats going to delay signing. he seems to be eager to learn and understands what problems that delay would cause.

I totally agree. Beck & Satele should be in the bag fairly quickly. I think Ginn will get an idea of the market for those picks around him, then pull the trigger fast. With everything Wayne H had to say about getting in camp early, you've got to believe this has been discussed with Ginn and may have gone a long way in his being drafted #9.

.....business is business and fans all think and take it personal

Since when does family come before business in the nfl? If it were that way then our team would suck.

As often is the case in life.... money is not about friends.

Money is about money.

If your best friend offered you a job to work for him with twice as much responsibility, as well as, fame and status...

What would you say if he said "Now sign this low ball contract for less than what you're worth and don't make me look like a fool. You're my friend, friend's shouldn't make friends look bad."

Friendship doesn't pay the bills. Money does.
