Contract Talks with J.Long & V. Gholston**

excellent find. espn was saying we would be negotiating with all but matt ryan and playing them off one another. I like it because the first pick is not worth the cap hit, especially this year. we argue over the pick this year, but no rookie is worth it ultimately.

lol um afraid to say it, but someone beat you to it and posted it in the right forum

I really wonder if starting with J.Long and then V.Gholston is just a way to let C.Long know that we hold the cards and if going #1 is important we will not be held hostage come time to sign. Or is it that it just happen to work out this way and I'm reading to much into it.

Bottom line is I really hope J.Long is our man.

you must have read my thread then. :)

I think thats exactly whats goin on cuz if you look all the other guys groves ghol and so forth are no where near CL in stats as far as tackles and sacks. evreyoen is 38 tackles and like 8 sacks compared to 74 adn 14 or what not. so 2nd tier guys dont seem close to CL. we'll jsut see what happens.

As I have said sometime last week.

You will talk to about 5-6 players about contracts and I think the one you pick will be signed prior to the draft just like with Houston.

Signability is the key to the layer being drafted. Raiders did it completely wrong and their number 1 overall missed all season.

I believe there will be more, possibly 4 total, the we will talk contract with. Pitting one player against another to be number one is based on the guaranteed money for number 1 compared to, say, a number 4. Last year the number 1 pick got 29 million, while the #4 got 18.56 million. The drop off, in millions would make a player/agent want to be the #1 pick, not excluding the bragging rights for being the #1 draft selection.
