Control issue should have killed Fisher-to-Miami far earlier

Maybe Fisher didn't demand control initially but later thought that it would be the one thing that would make him choose the Dolphins over the Rams....

What does it hurt to keep negotiations open? Maybe some deal breaker pops up with the Rams and he decides to take the Dolphins offer.

It sounds like what happened here was Fisher asked for full control, Steve Ross politely told him that it wasn't going to happen, but then told him that the offer was still on the table.

In what way, shape or form is that a dumb move?

The problem is that we are now behind in our coaching search. And not just a head coach. Whoever we decide to coach this team is going to be behind other teams in putting together a staff.

Honestly, I think Fisher used us for leverage. There were tons of reports very early saying that this would happen. Fisher is a smart guy and I think he knew at an early stage that he wasn't going to get what he wanted from Ross. He just kept us in the game to ensure that he got exactly what he wanted from St. Louis.

I have a different take here ......imo this fisher scenario has c peterson fingerprints all over. You know he has the owner`s ear and
for whatever reason he had a strong opinion against mr fisher having complete autonomy in personell matters. Probably would not have
been an issue with say a cowher/gruden. I just can`t see ross making making this deal braking decision on his own.
