Last May 21, on Williams' birthday, Parcells walked by as Dolphins players stretched on the practice field and handed Williams a birthday present in the form of a folded-up yellow Post-it note.

"Tell me what you think," is all Parcells said while walking on.

Williams glanced quickly at the note, but it wasn't until later, after practice, that he unfolded it and weighed its minimalist message: "2010 - $4.35 million."

"I went, 'Wow,'" Williams says.

The extension is nearly $1 million more than the $3.4 million he's making now.
And, as Williams says, "What I made last year ($2.2 million) was the same I made when I led the league in rushing (in 2002)."

I love that Parcells appreciates Ricky as much as i do. I wish nothing but the best for Ricky in the future and am proud to have him on our team.

Kind of eliminates the middle man (AKA agent). I like executives that are upfront with what they are thinking and employees that don't have to ask for permission to make a decision that mostly involves only themselves.

Don't know who's going to be the #1 back next year, but it's obvious Parcells is willing to pay good money for his #2 back.

And actually, if you consider Parcells' well-known view that good running backs are a dime a dozen, what he's showing is that he is willing to pay good money mostly for the PRO that Ricky is, not necessarily his abilities.

bill p is a beast. that is one hell of a bday present. Hopefully ricky will return the gift by making plays every game which so far it he does not look to bad.

As much as Ricky hurt us by leaving, he truly has worked his tail off to make up for that mistake. I really hope that he sees the ball a little more, as much as I love Ronnie, I think Ricky should get at least 15 touches a game.

I do fill ricky is the better rb and the only thing he has against him is age. if ricky was ronnies age omg that would be f***ing awesome and have ronnie backing him up.

from what ive seen so far Ricky looks like hes running harder. I feel Ronnie does that stutter step crap too much and doesnt hit the holes with the explosiveness that Ricky does. Both are very good backs but i love Ricky, even though he quit on us years ago like someone said he has worked hard to make up for it and hes great to have on the team.

If Ricky gets his legs goin and blazes past the D or makes them miss on one of them plays to the outside hes out, nobodies gonna catch him except a real fast corner maybe. He may not be as fast as he was in 2002 but he can still move.

If he never left he would be in the top 10 backs ever.
To each their own as to what number he would be but no question in my mind top 10.
His work ethic is something you want all rookies and young guys to see.
