Corner the Biggest Need?

If you draft a potential Earl Thomas/Elite safety prospect in Starks, you might be able to get away with what we have at corner or drafting one later on due to the fact of the safety net behind them.

PS: when is this guy finally going to show up:

What I like about Harmon is his pass rushing ability. He led all IDL in QB pressures in 2024. He is pretty good against the run too but thats not his strength.

I worry that Grant projects mainly as a NT with limited pass rushing ability.

I think we can draft a NT later on or sign a FA NT who won't cost much.

I think Harmon could still be had around pick number 20. Thats why I think the Broncos would be a good team to trade down with and we get their 3rd round pick number 85 and we should also get a 3rd next year but might have to settle for a 6th this year and a 4th next year.

I think Grant's floor is a top NT in the game, the pass rush is all upside. At the least he'll eat a double team and we can have the rest of the line 1 vs 1

Hey Noah IG finally looked good at Nickel for the Commanders. The one corner spot we never played him in. Should be a pretty cheap signing if he would even come back to us.

Two DTs, Guard, Tackle and maybe Safety are all bigger needs than CB imo. Our guys at CB can at least tread water. But, as others have mentioned, on the d-line we only have Seiler right now. We need another end and a nose. We still have a hole at one guard spot. And I don't think Patrick Paul is going to cut it. I would feel very nervous with him in the starting lineup.

We’re thin at CB but it’s not for lack of trying… We’ve spent a 1st and 2nd rounder in the past 4 drafts that haven’t panned out. 🤷
Cam Smith is the only CB we have taken in the top two rounds in the last 4 years.

I believe Miami has serious intentions to continue developing Isaiah Johnson, Matrie and Colbert. They signed Matrie to a 2 yr contract, indicating they may feel he's going to contribute. Ethan Bonner, Storm Duck and Cam Smith are players the coaches seem to want to give more playing time to.

The issue is they are all still young and inexperienced. Got to hope they develop into consistent contributors.

I'd not be surprised if Miami selected more than one DB in the up coming draft, as well as, sign a number of UDFA types.

Miami appears to be undergoing a youth movement in the secondary. Let's hope they select the right kids to help move that along.

The dots seem to indicate pick #13 will be a DB. They've been doing extensive scouting of DB's and appear to be leaning in that direction once again.
Since camp last year Maitre is my sleeper, no idea why they let him go in the first place.

Kid took on Hill all camp and showed out..not scared and never got beat deep. Usually in his hip

With respect, it doesn’t matter what age they moved. It’s about the player’s profile. Ramsey has a profile where he can be an outstanding safety. He’s physical and an excellent tackler. The guy can be a great chess piece at safety. Just randomly rattling off the age of other corners who don’t profile the same way is irrelevant.
I was just saying it won't be the same trajectory. Lott was just hitting his prime when he moved. Ransey is still a fine player but not in his prime anymore. Do you think Peterson couldn't have handled moving to safety, or Gilmore cannot?
If Ramsey is open to moving, I am not opposed to it one bit. Even this season. I loved the way Weaver used him though. Like a chess piece. Maybe the horse.

I believe it is as of now. Makes sense to go Will Johnson if we don’t add any CBs before the draft. I would love for us to trade for Jaire tho or even sign Asante Samuel Jr.

I do believe there’s still some quality stop gap guards left on the market so hopefully we can add one more so we can focus on drafting defense

Specifically on defense, we need starter at safety, DL, and corner.

I would argue we have less starters on safety (none really) and DL (just seller?) than corner (Ramsay).

Corner is a need… but our defense needs starters at several levels.

I would go DL first before CB or S for defense.

We still need another G starter as well.
I do think the talent in the draft dictates defensive line early. But I could see a corner early.

I agree at the very least we need another starter at OG, DT and DB. Those are the most pressing needs.

Lesser needs

S - We could get by with Melifonwu and Davis but we should add another Safety.

LB - We re-signed Dodson but he is poor against the run so we need a better run stuffing LB to go along with Brooks and Dodson.

Swing OT if Armstead retires and Paul is the starting LT. If Armstead returns then Paul can fill that role.

TE - Ideally one who can block to go along with Jonnu who is mainly a pass catching TE.

RB - We need a more physical RB.
That would easily be the worst starting safety combo in the NFL in addition to the fact that one of them is a part time player and the other is very injury prone.

I wonder if Starks could actually play corner?
