I don't know if you remember how NFL Europe had a multiplicity of ads around the field and patches on the unis with sponsors.

1-Is it against NFL rules to put corporate patches on uniforms? I know the NFL has pretty tight control on Unis.
2-Do you think the NFL will eventually go down that direction to make more money?
3-Could a team owner (bad example would be Huizinga with Waste Management or Blockbuster, I know it's Ross' team now) legally incorporate a corporate logo into the team logo?
4-Other than fans boycotting product sales, is there anything to stop it?
5-Which NFL owner do you think would be most likely to push the envelope in this area?

i think the cowboys... they have like 6 different tv shows... if one of their players farts espn is there to report about it... not only that but they are prolly the most renown team in the nfl. big companys would prolly sponsor teams and could that possibly be good because teams would have more money?

Hopefully it never becomes part of the actual games, but there was talk earlier this year about allowing sponsors to put logos on team's practice jerseys. Basically, during mini camp and training camp, you could see the Dolphins with say a Landshark logo on their jersey. This logo would not be on the preseason, regular season or postseason uniforms. Just the practice jerseys. Not sure if a vote has happened yet on that.

I'm just concerned for the future where the corporate types take over more and more of the football decisions and intrude more and more into the game day action. More product placement, more ads, more decisions made only with the financial bottom line in mind. The classy old time owners are dying off and I don't trust a lot of the new breed replacements. I started the thread to see what anyone out there has heard about the corporate creep into the NFL. I didn't know about the practice jersey thing. Scary.

Have to say I am actually amazed that the NFL does not allow corporate advertising on team uniforms. Over here, it does not matter what sport you play or at what age, there is a companys name on the jersey. Especially when you see everything else advertisied as you will always see Rich Esisen holding up a Sprint phone on Total Access or during the Draft.

In fairness though, its one of the better things about the NFL. It kinda makes the jersey's that more respectable. As the original poster made reference to NFL Europe uni's, they looked rather tacky and soul-less with all the logos.

Eventually, I think it will become a part of the NFL. They already to stadiums, the unis will be next. One thing, though, the NFL will make the decision, not the teams. I personally don't care.

I openly opose to this nonsense of comercializing of everything . I would love to see a builing that is not plastered with millions of advertising signs.

its bad enough that the college game is being driven by comercials .

Yeah, I could hear the Week 1 post-game interview now...

"Hey, Chad! What a great game today!"

"Yeah, it certainly was, and thankfully we were able to pull out a victory at the end there. But it wasn't all me. I got a lot of help from the #19 Reebok, UnderArmour, Kellogg's, EAS Wide Reciever there on that last play. And trutfully, the Tonka, Carhartt, Hummer, Old Spice Offensive Line played their hearts out today against a very good defense. If it weren't for them, you would have seen me laying all over Scott's Lawn Care field."

As Chad turns to leave, we catch a glimpse of the name splashed across the back of the hottest selling jersey in Miami.

J.C. Penny-ngton.

...And don't even get me started on Ronnie. What can Brown do for you?

that just made my day :thanks:

The NFL makes enough money that this will never happen

NFL Europe was a cash-strapped entity that needed all the exposure they could get

Actually isn't there already the uniform maker logo on the jersey?

I'd love to see "Sparano's Pizza" practice jerseys for the O-Line, "we flatten them for you!"

LMAO...this is one of my favorite things about watching NASCAR. Watching the drivers/crew chief/owner try to remember to squeeze in all the sponsors is hilarious. Personally, I don't really care too much. Sure it would be a little annoying and busy up the uniforms...but in the end it's not like it would really change the actual game that much.
