I was wondering, I am sort of new here and I have read a lot of threads saying a new Quarterback needs to be brought in. But since it looks like the Dolphins will have a relatively high pick and a lot of names have been offered as far as a replacement, but realistically with all the problems on the team what are you willing to give up for a Quarterback. I am assuming that draft picks will be involved since even if you think of going the Ricky route, he hasn't done enough to kill his bad press as of yet.

You have the choice of getting a retread:

1. Couch (off the street)
2. Carr (if the Texans are really crazy enough to get a new Quarterback to put behind that brutal line)
3. Ramsey (looks like the writing is on the wall)
4. Harrington (something seems to be missing with that guy)
5. Maddox (uuuhhh....next)

Untapped promise:

1. Culpepper (change of scenery needed I think)
2. Rivers (he might get the short end of the stick in San Diego)
3. Schaub (really like that guy coming out)

Or surprise veteran:

1. Farve (you never know, stranger things have happened)
2. Pennington (see number one above)
3. Brees (if the contract is not to his liking)

In the first section you forget Kitna...but at any rate, we need to upgrade the position. In Linehan's O, the QB is relied on to be able to throw the ball deep, intermediate and short very accurately. I think Saban will do one of two things...both of which involve drafting a QB...

1) he takes one of the retreads that might be better than Gus and drafts a guy in the 1st or 2nd round to be the man.

2) he gets one of the better guys in FA (Rivers/Brees, Carr, Culpepper, Schaub) and then drafts a QB on day 2 of the draft.

Looking at the list you assembled tho....

Carr, Culpepper, Rivers/Brees, Schaub...not all that sure that they will all become available...one of the SD guys for sure, but if that's the case, there'll be a lot of suitors for just one guy.

Couch..interesting prospect, but why hasn't he been tapped ?? Is it still because of his injury or what...You'd have thunk the Jests might have taken a waiver on him a few weeks ago ??

Ramsey, Harrington, Maddox, Pennington, Kitna, Rattay/Griese...all guys that have either not proven they can play or there is a question about their health or they have lost the edge due to age....

Favre...I just can't see him anywhere but GB or somewhere in Mississippi enjoying the sunshine next year...particularly with the obvious change in regime coming there...

There just aren't a lot of options, unless Saban goes the route of digging out someone's #2 guy...(Gerrard in Jax, Schaub in Atl) but these guys are inexperienced as well.

I'd like for us to pick up Rivers myself but that won't be my decision...

I dont think we will get a "relatively high pick" like you say. Have you taken a good look around the league yet? We win today, and the wheels will come off. They already are for the jets. There will be alot of teams who pick before us. Are easy part of the schedule is coming up, the season is only half over.
