its slow right now and I was just musing...and may be totally off base...but....I believe that between now and the second game of the season that the FO and tuna will somehow obtain another second round draft choice for next year....giving us a first and 2 2s. How ?? I don't know, but I belive that the only player we have under contract at this time-- untouchable---is Jake Long. I believe that he will use 2 of the first three picks on a sideline -to-sideline Inside linsbacker and a NT....with the other pick being used on another ILB or Tweener de/lb or possibly a stud Saftey. As to who will be traded is anyone guess....but it will have to be someone that commands a 2nd rounder...which would probably mean a WR-TE-Pass Rusher or DE. I may be totally wrong, but I feel that Bill would like to use his third year in the draft to complete the ground floor of his rebuilding plan and use the future to tweek it....he IS still looking for his next LT. this is JMHO I may be wrong...be east on me.....thanks

A trade is definitely a strong possibility. But, I am not sure they have any tradeable player on roster that could fetch a 2nd round pick. Ted Ginn and Ronnie Brown would fetch more than that. Cameron Wake would have to be REALLY far along before they think about trading Joey Porter for a 2nd rounder...and even then I doubt it. Maybe Fasano but I'm not sure they could get a 2nd for him. Perhaps Camarillo but it's hard to trade a player coming off an ACL tear and I doubt he'd get even close to a 2nd. I doubt they'd even think of trading Chad Pennington.

Yeah - Probably no one for a 2nd round pick. Jason Allen comes to mind as trade bait, but he'd probably be a 3rd or 4th round pick at best.

On a side note, I REALLY want Brandon Spikes in next year's draft.

I don't see any way possible that J.Allen could fetch more then a 6th rounder.

CK...maybe Bess and if they believe they will be ready for Henne this year...just a guess thou:thanks:

3rd or 4th would be a steal for us. . . he isnt worth more than a 5th imo

That's why I said at best :p. We could probably convince some team to take him for a 5th rounder.

Right now we just have...really good players that don't have a good enough reputation to get a second rounder. Maybe we can get something done after the season. :hump:

Porter is the only possibility, and that is only if we are out of it at the trading deadline.

If a team had a need at RB, do you think Ricky would warrant a 3rd or 4th? I like Ricky, but I don't see him as too important give up.

I do agree that a 2nd would be difficult to obtain, looking at our roster. I think Fasano is a 1st or 2nd RD talent at TE, and I don't think we could get that value back. Perhaps a combination of players could get us a 2nd. I'm sure the FO, though, is checking their options.

Guys u r making this team sound like it is being runned by mueller all over again. Bess and Fasano r not going anywhere. Miami could trade a Jason Allen or perhaps a guy like Charlie Anderson, but it is ridiculous to say that Bess or Fasano are getting traded.

That trade would be dictated by:

1) another team’s dire need matching with a position of strength on our team (i.e., OLB)

2) probably a bit of an overpay to us (always great to get the advantage)

3) some unforeseen developments on our roster (i.e., Wake turning into a monster)

Last, it's possible, but I doubt it will happen...

I'm thinking we'd be fortunate to get something like a 4th or 5th for someone like Rodrique Wright or maybe David Martin (pending contract) or maybe just a future consideration based on performance. Any way we can extract a tad of value...

I can't see JP as he is our emotional leader on defense. Did you see the pregame and postgame of the week 17 Jets game when we clinched afc east. I see only players that might be able to get us a 2nd rd value.
Ted Ginn - I think he is a viable option but as much as people knock Ted Ginn you have to give him credit that he forces a double team and stretches the defense. Do we have anybody else that will do that? Potentials only, nobody proven yet.
Matt Roth - I have been reading all of these articles about Jason Taylor but I think the real key maybe Quentin Moses. If Moses can replace Matt Roth, and still provide a pass rushing presence than I think we would look at trading Roth. I don't know if he would get us a 2nd but possibly a 3rd round pick.

I think Matt Roth is the most serious trade possibility discussed in this thread.

I disagree with the price tags of most of the players discussed in this thread. No way we could get a 6th for Jason Allen, and a 3rd or 4th round price tag for Allen would see us laughed off the phone. Bess would not fetch a 2nd rounder, and Miami wouldn't do that anyway.

I think Anthony Fasano is a possibility because he's entering the final year of his contract, Miami has a replacement on hand in David Martin, and they also have enough WRs that they could focus more on multiple WR sets instead of multiple TE sets. If they are not convinced the guy is upper echelon, and some team comes calling convinced he is and offering a king's ransom (and a 2nd rounder would be a king's ransom for a TE), then that could happen.

If Taylor and Moses show they can set the edge against the run, effectively eliminating the need for Roth on 1st and 2nd downs, I think he's a good candidate for a trade. Especially since he's in the doghouse after lying to Sparano.
