Just a random thought...but I can't help but see a difference in Tannehill in this Dallas preseason game.

Is it because he has more time to throw? Is it because the Dallas D is ****ty? Is it because we're finally calling some legit plays? (Seeing 3,4,5 eligible pass catchers running routes sure is pretty isnt it? Is it because he has control at the LOS for once?

But what if its more than that?

Are we seeing Gases' influence as the QB whisperer already?

And here is the last question...

Could Mannings mentorship have anything to do with this???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Look...we know Manning has made at least 2 visits (public) to the team. We know he had a lengthy discussion with Tannehill.

It is then very logical to assume that Manning/Tannehill exchanged contact information.

Have they really only talked that one or two times? I don't think so. Why?

#1 - Manning doesn't have **** to do but T.V. commercials...

#2 - For 18 years he lived/breathed pro football...in a way that VERY FEW can compare. This game means more to him than arguably any player in its history IMO...so I have to think that its HIGHLY likely that he wants to contribute in some capacity somewhere...his public visits caused a lot of attention...and so I have no doubt that if Gase wants Manning to tutor Tanne...its now being done more discreetly.

#3 - Manning/Gase's relationship cannot be underestimated...They have un-finished business....can you imagine the let-down those 2 experienced after that Superbowl? That kind of ultimate defeat...after having the most incredible seasons of their careers, is something that builds a BOND FOR LIFE...and so if there is anyone that Manning wants to see succeed and help out - I think Gase would be at the top of the list.

#4 - I think Manning has a great deal of respect for RT's intelligence. I think they would get along very well. I think its natural for ever "master" to seek to PASS ON what they have learned...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would imagine (this is just how the world works guys) that Manning even has our playbook. I would imagine that he is watching our tape and offering notes to Tannehill on the regular.

This is just my opinion...but when I watch Tannehill in that last pre-season game I see a different person and I have to attribute it to Gase/Mannings influence.

All of the above, but IMO mostly he wasn't running for his life. Gase factor a close second.

It was the second preseason game, Tannehill is a 4th year starting QB facing a second string D that is just lining up to play- less exotic than Miami's practice defense.

I don't see the difference in Tannehill, seen him execute like that plenty of times when given time. Let's not forget the play calling was very basic as for Dallas' defensive side of the ball too.

I think people tend to read into Peyton's very few visits with the team.

He lives in Miami certain times of the year.

There are always former Fins and other NFL Players that stop by during the offseason to say hi.

Peyton has visited other NFL teams this offseason also but I doubt he is in cahoots w/ any of them.

Lol Tannehill has one good preseason game and you think he's finally arrived. When he does it consistently in the regular season then you can talk about it. It's way to early for this talk

We need to get Tannehill on the move more. His throw running right way downfield to Stills was outstanding. The thing is, we've seen him consistently do that. It's a strength of his and it's very disappointing that the prior staff didn't leverage it. You shorten the field when you roll out, I get that, but in a few shots in a game, it would be playing to your qb's strength.

As bad as the first team offense was in game 1, then in the first drive at Dallas, all of a sudden Gase trots that play out to kick start everything? I don't think it was a coincidence. Gase sees the same strength that we've seen for years, and the prior coaching staff ignored.

With Gase's connection with the Broncos offense that broke all kinds of records, i've at least thought about "our offense could look like that". Tannehill is capable given time to throw and WR's that hang on to the ball.

I'm not going in expecting it, but there are pieces in place that make plausible.

Ryan Tannehill (last 3 years):

2013- 392/588 (60.4%)...3913 yards...24 tds vs 17 INT (+7 TDs)
2014- 355/590 (66.4%)...4045 yards...27 tds vs 12 INT (+15 TDs)
2015- 363/586 (61.9%)...4208 yards...24 tds vs 12 INT (+12 TDs)

Seems to me Tannehill has consistently completed over 60% of his passes, other then 2013 (Where he barely missed it) has been over 4000 yards passing, and has thrown at least 7 more TDs then INT each year...and he has done all this while running for his life or getting smashed from lack of pass-blocking.

Kind of like it's too early for this pessimistic talk.

Well, let me actually add to the discussion here:

I think this is all about Adam Gase, OP. He and Tannehill are tied at the hip in practice and are apparently together in the building a lot going over stuff. I don't think 17 has time to be meeting with any former players when he's living in the training facility.

Marino is more in tannehill's ear than manning. lets see more of game 2 and less of game one and lets see if we can spot a real trend.

He did it last year. He set a record for consecutive completions.

It has always started and ended with the OL...... Give him time and RT has always done well....always...

All 5 yards or less passes. Let's see if he can play well four or five or more games in a row. It's always one week good and the next week bad.
