PHILADELPHIA (Oct. 17, 2006) -- Michael Lewis has more to worry about than a contract extension.
The former Pro Bowl strong safety could be close to losing his starting job after a poor performance in Philadelphia 's 27-24 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Everyone knows we have a need at safety, could Lewis be the answer?

When is he due for an extension? After this season? He'd be a good fit I think...if we could get him next year but because he's in danger of getting benched THIS year....means very little

He has already lost atleast some of his snaps to sean considine (sp) already, and this is his contract year. he hasn't played well for a season and a half now and the feeling from the media up here is if he doesn't turn it around philly will let him walk.....btw i'd take in a heartbeat....

his problem isn't injuries. it's coverage.

Your SS must be able to cover RBs and TEs. Lewis, while a solid player and a great tackler, has been horrible in coverage. Jim Johnson has said that the Eagles can not play a Cover 2 when Lewis is in the game because of his lack of coverage skills.
