Could The Dolphins OL Go From Bad To Worse Next Year?

What if you draft a guy and it doesn't work?

I mean there are no guarantees on anything. You can't fill your roster with top tier, proven FAs as insurance policies.

You don't "hate being in this spot". There is no spot. It's the way life is.
your first sentence is exactly the issue with paul. we don't know. all i am saying is it is a big risk. your opinion seems to be it is a risk you are willing to take. my opinion is he is a risk i am not willing to take if i were them, and sadly would pay the tax (more restructurings) to bring armstead back. on the other hand, to be honest, if I was hired as GM and was allowed to operate with a longer term view, I would start biting the bullet on all of this stuff and no longer kicking the can down the road. so GM me would get it over with and roll with paul and see what we have, as well as not forcing more cap hits into the future, fully knowing it might be a total disaster. but i am in favor of ripping the bandaid off. the dolphins organization is not. that is the tension. i see both sides of the coin, but from a different perspective i guess.

Sure woulda been nice if they listened to my bitching over the last 5 years about building a good oline. And too the Aqua-Glasses crew who kept telling me to shut up about it..... I've one one finger for ya!

Stating the obvious, it would be great to have Armstead for another year. But sooner or later Paul needs to play. I don't think many of us expect Miami to be challenging for the super bowl in what has the appearance of a transition year. In other words, it's important to develop the younger players.

Daniels could be to the Dolphins what Brewer was last year. Jackson is solid at RT. I still expect Miami to draft an offensive linemen, maybe early if a good player falls in the team's lap. My guess is probably 3rd round now, unless they don't think Paul is the future at LT.

An argument could be made that the line ends up being better. Let's see how the offseason plays out.

If I'm not mistaken, its his run blocking that is sub-par...and Lord know we need to run the football instead of throwing those stupid 5-yard-deep backward passes on 2nd a 3 and 3 and 1!:bang:
agreed on the stupid bubble screens....but I think the running game get fixed if they just would do it....OL love to run block.....

Then maybe the scouts need to be fired...
Maybe so. Maybe the GM needs to be fired.

That's all well and good, but we are talking about this year, here and now. The staff is going to be the staff we have for this offseason.

I think the league is sleeping on Simmons, if he falls to the 20s that's a mistake, hes gonna be a good player for a long time
I’d love to see the Phins trade back a little bit and take him. Too many open holes at starting positions to not do it, plus the cap savings, which matters here. Plus, get another pick later to take one of the other guys I mentioned..

The injury makes him sliding a little bit likely, but they seem to be leaving at Walker or Emmanwori. I’d be trying to keep my oft-injured QB upright, especially with McDaniel and his system..

That's an issue when trying to have a conversation.

Some ppl would rather see new management, and will look at things from only that perspective.

Some want new management and a rebuild, bringing in new players, including the QB.

Some want to make decisions that make no sense without a substantial scheme change.

Some recognize that Grier/McD are here at the moment, and that isn't changing this season, and want to go all in as best as possible.

It's all over the map, and much of it is not immediately realistic.

No need to stir up $hit, is there?

Dude, if you go back and look at the **** I took over it, you'd understand why I'm still a bit salty about this topic.

I've hardly brought it up at all, if I'm being honest.

By the way, nice job on the roster moves thread. I know how much time and effort you put in for us to have virtually real time updates and info.

Full disclosure, I am an Ohio State fan. Which probably won’t sit well with the many Cane fans here..

That said, Ohio State has a lot of quality players in this draft who would fit needs for the Phins and are projected at the right areas of the draft.

R1 — Josh Simmons OT
R2 — Donavan Jackson OG/OT
R2 — Tyliek Williams DT/3T
R3 — Denzel Burke CB
R4 — Will Howard QB
R4/5 — Latham Ramson S
R4/5 — Jordan Han**** Nickel
R5/6 — Seth McLaughlin C (bonus for Grier because he’s coming off an Achilles injury)
R5/6 — Ty Hamilton DT/3T
R6/7 — Cody Simon LB

I don’t see mocks where Miami projects any of them, but there are quite a few matches from I can see.. I’m biased though

Simmons is coming off a patellar injury I believe. I’d avoid that
