I believe so, and here are my suggestion. Please add your own to the thread. The defense will be tricky because it really looks like it will be a base 4-3, however I do think they will change things up quite a bit.
QB.......This one is easy. Manning,Flynn,Draft Pick, you could even argue some other free agents like Jason Campbell could possibly be an improvement. My choice: Draft Weeden in the 3rd. NFLDraftScout.com now has him going in the 4th round. Why, I have no idea. He is top ten talent IMO.
WR.......Another easy one. Acquire a legitimate deep threat in the draft or free agency and you have a significant improvement. My choice: WR Robert Meachem
TE........Another easy one. Just add a legitimate receiving threat and along with the maturation Clay(who is really a TE) you have significant improvement. I'd trade down into the late 1st round and draft Coby Fleener.
FB........A super easy one. Add any real FB to the roster and you have improvement.
C..........This is a really tough one. Sure you could say that Pouncey still has upside and he absolutely going to improve, but that is a little weak. My choice: Draft a versatile OL with center experience. My first choice was Mason Cloy of Clemson, however Cloy has chosen to follow the Pat Tillman way. A brilliant graduate student Cloy will be joining the US Military after graduation. God Bless him. 2nd choice
George Bias OG/C A gem from the FCS in the 7th.
OT........Super easy. Anybody but Marc Colonbo, nuff said.
OG........This is a tough one if you don't share my confidence in Kevin Zeitler OG from Wisconsin. I think Zeitler will quickly adapt to the pro game and begin dominating early in his career. Draft him in the mid 2nd with a pick received from trading down. He is currently the 53rd ranked player at CBS Draft.
DT........This will be very gray with Soliai and Langford walking and I'm assuming a switch to a base 4-3, although again, I expect to see varied defensive schemes being used, so versatility should be considered. Starks and Odrick at starting DT's is IMO a status quo. In order to counteract the loss of Soliai I think the Dolphins need a DT with pass rush ability. Brandon Thompson with our 2nd rounder
DE.......Sign John Abraham to reasonable 2 year deal and draft Chandler Jones in the late 2nd with our pick from trading down. This is a big improvement over what Misi would bring at DE. I move Misi to LB in the 4-3. Mario Williams????? Maybe
LB's.....If Coyle really is the new DC I see the Dolphins signing both Manny Lawson and Dan Skuta. Both had great years under Coyle in Cinci. I love Dansby in the middle with both Lawson and Burnett excellent blitzing LB's the pass rush could be a terror next year. Skuta and Misi are very good depth. Definite improvement here.
S's.......Again, if Coyle is the guy, I expect FS Reggie Nelson to be signed. Reggie had a great year with Coyle as DB's coach in Cinci. I see Jones and Clemons as backups.
CB's......Continuity should result in significant improvement. I see Will Allen be re-signed and improving in the nickel position. He was as effective late as he was ineffective early last year. Still he had 43 tackles in limited snaps. I could say acquire Tracy Porter free agent CB from the Saints, but I think they are just going to put it on Coyle to coach these guys up. If Coyle isn't the guy, then ya, sign a veteran or draft Brandon Boykin with a trade up into the early 3rd. We all knew Nolan Carroll was a project, but I'm not so sure he has what it takes.
K.........Carpenter is getting a lot of money. Dolphins could draft Carson Wiggs in the seventh and save 2.3 million. Can't be sure about Wiggs consistancy but he has a bigger leg than Carp. The money could be spent on another mid-tier FA at another position and improve depth.
P and LS...Status Quo
All in all, Dolphins could be a much better team next year.
