I believe so, and here are my suggestion. Please add your own to the thread. The defense will be tricky because it really looks like it will be a base 4-3, however I do think they will change things up quite a bit.

QB.......This one is easy. Manning,Flynn,Draft Pick, you could even argue some other free agents like Jason Campbell could possibly be an improvement. My choice: Draft Weeden in the 3rd. NFLDraftScout.com now has him going in the 4th round. Why, I have no idea. He is top ten talent IMO.

WR.......Another easy one. Acquire a legitimate deep threat in the draft or free agency and you have a significant improvement. My choice: WR Robert Meachem

TE........Another easy one. Just add a legitimate receiving threat and along with the maturation Clay(who is really a TE) you have significant improvement. I'd trade down into the late 1st round and draft Coby Fleener.

FB........A super easy one. Add any real FB to the roster and you have improvement.

C..........This is a really tough one. Sure you could say that Pouncey still has upside and he absolutely going to improve, but that is a little weak. My choice: Draft a versatile OL with center experience. My first choice was Mason Cloy of Clemson, however Cloy has chosen to follow the Pat Tillman way. A brilliant graduate student Cloy will be joining the US Military after graduation. God Bless him. 2nd choice
George Bias OG/C A gem from the FCS in the 7th.

OT........Super easy. Anybody but Marc Colonbo, nuff said.

OG........This is a tough one if you don't share my confidence in Kevin Zeitler OG from Wisconsin. I think Zeitler will quickly adapt to the pro game and begin dominating early in his career. Draft him in the mid 2nd with a pick received from trading down. He is currently the 53rd ranked player at CBS Draft.

DT........This will be very gray with Soliai and Langford walking and I'm assuming a switch to a base 4-3, although again, I expect to see varied defensive schemes being used, so versatility should be considered. Starks and Odrick at starting DT's is IMO a status quo. In order to counteract the loss of Soliai I think the Dolphins need a DT with pass rush ability. Brandon Thompson with our 2nd rounder

DE.......Sign John Abraham to reasonable 2 year deal and draft Chandler Jones in the late 2nd with our pick from trading down. This is a big improvement over what Misi would bring at DE. I move Misi to LB in the 4-3. Mario Williams????? Maybe

LB's.....If Coyle really is the new DC I see the Dolphins signing both Manny Lawson and Dan Skuta. Both had great years under Coyle in Cinci. I love Dansby in the middle with both Lawson and Burnett excellent blitzing LB's the pass rush could be a terror next year. Skuta and Misi are very good depth. Definite improvement here.

S's.......Again, if Coyle is the guy, I expect FS Reggie Nelson to be signed. Reggie had a great year with Coyle as DB's coach in Cinci. I see Jones and Clemons as backups.

CB's......Continuity should result in significant improvement. I see Will Allen be re-signed and improving in the nickel position. He was as effective late as he was ineffective early last year. Still he had 43 tackles in limited snaps. I could say acquire Tracy Porter free agent CB from the Saints, but I think they are just going to put it on Coyle to coach these guys up. If Coyle isn't the guy, then ya, sign a veteran or draft Brandon Boykin with a trade up into the early 3rd. We all knew Nolan Carroll was a project, but I'm not so sure he has what it takes.

K.........Carpenter is getting a lot of money. Dolphins could draft Carson Wiggs in the seventh and save 2.3 million. Can't be sure about Wiggs consistancy but he has a bigger leg than Carp. The money could be spent on another mid-tier FA at another position and improve depth.

P and LS...Status Quo

All in all, Dolphins could be a much better team next year.

You can improve all you want on paper..but it does not always = improvement on the field... Look at our moves last year...We got rid of crowder and added burnett....on paper that looked like a slam dunk...We added Jason Taylor over guys like Moses. Taylor played better than him of course. We improved the Guard and center posistion but it didnt = wins.

you lost me at trying to upgrade Pouncey, a rookie who was named a pro-bowl reserve and named to the all rookie team, and played like a veteran at the Center position after switching over from Guard and having one season in college at Center

One less spot to fill :)

yeah that.

If Ireland finally pulls his head out of his a** and finally wakes up and realizes that you cant build a team by following the "parcells model" anymore, this is not 1987, you don't build teams by huge offensive lineman and huge LB's, you need speed, athleticism, a wide open offense, playmakers, that's what its all about.

Just by having a better coach, with the same players, you could possibly improve at every position already. I hope this is our case this year.

However i hope we can improve more on the Draft than on FA, with the QB exception if we're going for 1 in FA.

This year might shape up as a major overhaul. Buckle up for the ride.
In the long run the Parcells model is a failure. If we have to take a couple of steps backward this season to get the right players playing in a current modern scheme, I am all in for that. I think we can still be competitive while rebuilding.

Sign our QB in FA like Flynn, or draft Tanneyhill or Weeden. Draft a MLB. Either draft and/or sign in FA 2 OL. TE IMO is good if our coaches will play Clay as a receiving TE. Fasano is a good second TE. Clay and Fasano make a good pair. Done except for drafting for depth.

Reggie bush is neither a huge LB or O-lineman, he is a playmaker though.

Did he not to that this past year? Athletic Center in Pouncey, Speedster In Gates, Hybrid TE in Gates, Fast Shifty Running Back in Reggie Bush, a faster, slimmer Inside Linebacker in Burnett ? In that's just in one year, lock-out shortened off-season.

Everybody that's half decent for this organization, the fan base always want to run them out of town. To be technical, Jeff got complete control of this team in a little over a year. He's still fairly young, and has a lot of potential. If any othe GM did what we managed to do in his first year, he would be highly regarded, but not here.

I wonder why Jeff Fisher is interviewing Ireland's right hand man? It can't be because the people in the "Know" have a high regard for Ireland. No, it can be, finheaven members say so..

Wow, how could so many people misunderstand this. The late draft pick isn't to replace Pouncey. That is absurd! The late draft pick is to improve the position of center. This thread is about improving the team position by position. Isn't that what the title says?? Could it be any clearer?

We didn't have a clear backup at center last year. Incognito moving over?? Garner in a real pinch. The improvement was actually having a OL with experience to serve as backup.

Could we please try to put the pipe down before hitting enter.

how could a "late round" Center improve the position, usually when your taking a player "late round" your just hoping they make the roster, I would rather have a veteran like Incognito or Garner who have had NFL experience move to Center if anything happened to Pouncey, regardless if for any reason that "late round" center has to play, there will be no improvement to not just to the center position, but the team in general which is what really matters

If everyone on the board "misunderstood", perhaps it was the messenger. You had a real nice article but it clearly read as if you wanted to replace Pouncey, just like all the other players you wanted to replace. How could anyone read it any different?

Anyway, you had some real nice ideas that got totally overlooked because of one bad idea. I really like your ideas at QB and have proposed the same solutions myself.

GO PHINS~!
