Could this year's RB draft class go down in history as the best ever? Just as the 1983 NFL draft is considered the finest QB draft in history. I really think it may. There was more talent in this draft as far as RB's go than in any other draft I can remember.

Here are the RB's chosen in the 2005 NFL draft:

Round 1:
#2 Dolphins - Ronnie Brown - Auburn
#4 Bears - Cedric Benson - Texas
#5 Bucs - Carnell Williams - Auburn
Round 2:
#44 Cardinals - JJ Arrington - California
#54 Panthers - Eric Shelton - Louisville
Round 3:
#65 49ers - Frank Gore - Miami
#73 Texans - Vernon Morency - Oklahoma State
#77 Eagles - Ryan Moats - Louisiana Tech
#101 Broncos - Maurice Clarett  - Ohio State
Round 4:
#109 Cowboys - Marion Barber - Minnesota
#110 Giants - Brandon Jacobs - Southern Illinois
#112 Vikings - Ciatrick Fason - Florida
#127 Jaguars - Alvin Pearman - Virginia
#130 Chargers - Darren Sproles - Kansas State
Round 5:
#142 Titans - Damien Nash - Missouri
Round 6:
#182 Jets - Cedric Houston - Tennessee
#201 Falcons - Deandra Cobb - Michigan State
Round 7:
#236 Buffalo - Lionel Gates - Louisville
#243 Colts - Anthony Davis - Wisconsin
#244 Steelers - Noah Herron - Northwestern

Looks like there are several players to have a chance at solid NFL careers and maybe some potential Hall-of-Famers.

Here are the QB's chosen in the 1983 NFL draft:

Round 1:
#1 Baltimore - John Elway - Stanford
#7 Kansas City - Todd Blackledge - Ohio State
#14 Buffalo - Jim Kelly - Miami
#15 New England - Tony Eason - Illinois
#24 Jets - Ken O'Brien :tongue2: - Cal-Davis <--- ?
#27 Miami - Dan Marino :1st: - Pittsburgh
Round 2:
(none selected)
Round 3:

Round 4:

Round 6:
#162 Dallas - Reggie Collier - Southern Mississippi
#167 Miami - Reggie Roby - Iowa :D
#168 Washington - Babe Laufenberg - Indiana
Round 7:
(none selected)
Round 8:
#197 Denver - Gary Kubiak - Texas A & M
Round 9:
(none selected)
Round 10:
#267 New England - Tom Ramsey - UCLA
#272 San Diego - Bruce Mathison - Nebraska
Round 11:

Reggie Roby wasn't a QB...

Only a decade will tell us that.

Do you think the 2005 NFL draft will produce the overall most talented running back class ever in 10 years? If it is possible, what are the odds?

Waaaaaaaay to early to tell. So far it's shaping up like Ronnie and Cadillac will both be very effective at this level. We haven't seen enough from the other backs though.

I would think the odds are high....but who knew what the 83 draft would have produced in 83? As we know...the life span of a NFL running back isn't very long...with all the contact...and chance of injury...but it is a fact that the great ones can play for 8-10 years.

Really, Ronnie and Caddy are the only ones we have got to see on a regular basis. There are 18 other RB's we have only got a glimpse of. Marion Barber III most recently looking outstanding. I remember many finheaven members hoping we would draft him.

There were 16 choices in a 12 round draft in 1983 for drafting a QB. There are 20 chances with 3 of the top 5 overall selections being RB in 2005 in a 7 round draft. I think the odds are high, too. Look how the 1st QB chosen turned out in 1983. John Elway with 2 Super Bowl Rings and a stellar career. I hope we have the same luck with Ronnie Brown as the 1st RB selected in the draft. I like the odds.
