Just looked at the baseball standings and schedule and just discovered that if everything goes right, the Marlins will be eliminated from playoff contention as early as tomorrow. Right now the Marlins have been eliminated from the NL East race and their wild card elimination number is just two. Currently as of this post, the Marlins are losing to the Braves 3-0 in the bottom of the 7th inning. So, with a loss tonight, their elimination number drops to just one game. They will be eliminated from playoff contention with a loss tomorrow or a Rockies win.

So lets say tomorrow that the grounds crew at Landshark stadium know tomorrow night shortly after 10:00PM that the Marlins are eliminated. The Marlins do not have any regular season home games left. The Miami Hurricanes do have a home game at Landshark stadium on Saturday at 8:00PM. So from the time of the Marlins elimination to the next game(Saturday) at the stadium there will be roughly 94 hours of time. Would this be enough to re-do the field to get rid of that horrible infield?

I believe they would try really hard to get it done. Maybe the team could rally around the departure of the infield and turn things around.

Also depends on the weather and the rain forecasts. I remember in 2007 before the Raiders game they had several days but it didn't get done because they said they can't lay it if they expect a lot of rain.

They should make it all dirt the way this team plays.

Dan Lebatard has said they have already removed the infield even though the marlins are still in it... he was serious and was wondering how the marlins front office felt about it. Talked about it on 790.

anythin that helps this team win is fine with me lol

If I recall in our one home game, Carpenter nailed all 3 field goals on the dirt, and missed his one field goal on the grass.

Maybe the dirt is our advantage...

I really hope so, I can't stand it. Instead of building new stadiums for teams that don't need new stadiums, they should at least focus on building new stadiums for teams that have to play with the infield dirt FIRST. It causes injuries, can effect field goals, it's just ridiculous that nothing has been done.
