Jim Turner, Dolphins OL coach, saw Martin as needing to be more of a badass. So Turner on his own accord went to Incognito, then the "leader" of the OL and told him to toughen Martin up. How does one get toughened up? I have no clue. Did Incognito have a clue either? Another mystery for now.

Incognito's texts and voicemails to Martin: Were these directly related to Turner's request? If so, why the **** would he not say these things to his face? What does calling someone names and threatening their family, even in jest, over the phone going to do to someone? If anything say this **** in practice, punch Martin in the helmet a few names, get him riled up.

Now back to Turner. He's the OL coach. He's been around a while. Making a request like this to Incognito wouldn't need to be communicated to or approved by Philbin, at least in Turner's eyes.

Was Turner in the wrong for making the request for Incog to toughen up Martin? I don't think so. Could Incognito have handled it a different way? Absolutely.

I don't see how hazing or bullying has anything to do with this mess. It would be one thing if Incognito did all of what he did on his own and no one told him to do anything with Martin. If he's a lone wolf who made those comments to Martin, I'd blame him fully.

I know some here will say that it's all still Philbin's fault. That he should have a better coaching staff, one that knows better. Jim Turner is a ****ing adult. He's the OL coach. He has the experience. I really don't think Turner's apparent decision to get his player to toughen Martin up is bad. The execution of it wasn't the greatest....I will certainly admit that.

I don't care who told who to go and toughen Martin up. Short of them saying to physically threaten Martin, then only Cog is to blame for where he went with that voicemail.

here's another question that will turn your whole scenario upside down. what if that voicemail was BEFORE a coach told incog to toughen up martin?

Joe Philbin doesn't know what's going on in his own house, let alone the locker room...

What to Do If You’re Bullied

There are things you can do if you are being bullied:

•Look at the kid bullying you and tell him or her to stop in a calm, clear voice. You can also try to laugh it off. This works best if joking is easy for you. It could catch the kid bullying you off guard.
•If speaking up seems too hard or not safe, walk away and stay away. Don’t fight back. Find an adult to stop the bullying on the spot.

Or punch them square in the face!

The people who take that voicemail seriously are being taken for a ride by the PC media.

Nobody above the age of 6 would take that seriously. Wasn't Incognito laughing in the voicemail?

I did not hear it I only read the transcript. has anyone actually heard that?

Then like I said, it's 100% on Incognito.

Hey look, a baseless comment. Helpful.

It's no secret that his son got charged with sexual assault when he was in high school. Where did that occur? In the Philbin's home near Green Bay while Joe was coaching in a preseason game in Denver.

Not a baseless comment, but an undeniable fact!

I live about an hour from Green Bay. It was all over the news at the time. I believe his son did some jail time for it as well.

Come on now... uncalled for. Poor guy lost a son, whether the kid got into trouble or not.

I'm not talking about when his son died. That was an accident that happened on a lake about 20 miles from where I live. He simply got seperated from his friends after they were walking back from a bar.

I'm talking about when his son went to jail for sexual assault when he was 17. Granted, Michael had somewhat changed his behavior in the following years, but still, facts are facts.

Every player that comes out of college has some sort of weakness. Something that they really need to improve on.
Maybe a WR needs to sharpen his route running. Maybe a RB needs to stop dancing in the hole so much…
With Martin, his weakness was that he was weak. Now we all know he was more than physically weak, but mentally weak as well.
Great job, Ireland. Your sure know how to pick em.
