This is just my brain at work here but if we were to trade down with someone, wouldnt Scott Linehan and St. Louis be a possibility?

I just read a quote where Linehan said that getting Mcmichael was in the works for some time. In other words, Linehan and Mueller have been talking alot. Mueller did not want Mcmichael going to the Jets so he just let the free market St. Louis pick him up because Mcmichael already had a notion of going there.

This brings me to the possibility that we could end up trading down to 13. What if St. Louis really wants Okoye bad enough to make a deal? I think it could be possible and then maybe we still get Levi Brown and some picks. I could also see us drafting Okoye for St. Louis and then trading him to them so they are gaurranteed to get him. This is what the Giants and San Diego did for Manning and the other guy who i cant think of his name right now.

Am I crazy or could this be a possibility? I think we could have some nice business relations with the St. Louis Rams, or I could just be out of my mind. Just trying to think like a GM.

its all open right now...anything can happen and speculating will just drive u mad

I think trading down with StL is a possibility, but I don't think the McMichael pick up had anything to do with it. If we really wanted to guarantee that the NYJ wouldn't have gotten him, we would have taken a 7th or a swap of round 6 picks or something like that. Linehan jumped on RM because of his relationship with him from here. While I think the trade channels could be easily opened between us and stl, the same could be said with a number of other teams because of former coaching relationships. We won't know anything until the day of the draft, that's for sure.

Alan Branch is the real prize. I think St. Louis would be willing to give up more than they should for that monster. They are desperate at DL.

I'd love a 2 from STL to come up to 9 but I'd settle for a 3 & 5.

well, I dont think we let Mcmike go without the notion that Linehan would indeed snag mcmike and mcmike would go. I think Mueller did not want the Jets to get him. I think Linehan played hardball with him on the draft picks.

REgardless, I think they have talked alot about things because of the relationship two years ago and our positions in the draft. If things go a certain way in the draft and St louis wants a certain player really bad, they may be prepared for a major deal. thats how these things get going and end up being done IMO.

ive seen mocks for Okoye for them. Buffalo might be a problem.

As far as compensation, It would have to be there 2 and something else.

Them or Carolina are very good trade down partners...Carolina needs a young QB(Quinn)and St.Louis needs a DT(Branch).

Id take a pick this year and a pick next year if the value was there.

The mocks show Okoye because Branch isn't projected to drop out of the top 10.

Okoye is the blue-chip prospect he is due to his age. Branch is the premier mauler in this draft and he is lightning quick for his size.

No, I definitely don't think you're crazy. You present some really, really interesting food for thought. Based on your rationale, I think it could be a distinct possibility. Likely? Maybe not. But definitely within the realm of reasonability. Good post.
