Serious Question. Could we shut him down if he was double teamed on every single play?

I really don't know how to stop him...if I were to go about it I'd line up Clemons on him all day, and then either have a lineman chip him or a linebacker spy him as well in coverage depending on the situation. Might be off base there, more of an offensive guy.

Sure. Put a big corner on him and cover man to man. He's not fast enough to outrun a corner. He's strong enough, so you have to watch out in the red zone, but up the seams you roll a safety to the middle and drill him.

We dont have a corner that can handle his size. We cant stop mot TEs so we cant stop him. Funny how signing new linebackers were supposed to change this

no, signing new linebackers was supposed to allow us to get to the QB quicker so that we don't put as much pressure on our secondary to cover TEs etc.

Many people cited how these linebackers somehow were better in coverage but on both accounts neither has been true so far. Dansby has more pressures than both of these guys

which people? that stats on wheeler said he was a better blitzer than burnett, but not as good in coverage. Ellerbe was about on par with dansby in coverage and a bit better in blitzing.

CB is as much about position as anything else. I bet you could put Jamar Taylor on him man to man all day and roll safety coverage for deeper routes and shut him down. The only place his size really makes an impact is in the red zone. TE make their money slipping through coverages into dead spots in the zone or through seams. No one covers a TE man to man all game because it leaves other guys to make plays. Fortunately NE is low on WR talent right now. I'm not nearly as worried about Dobson or Thompkins as Gronk or their running game. If you're talking about shutting down one dude, it can easily be done, at the peril of other guys stepping up.

Silly questions deserve silly answers.

No,so we should just let him roam free and concentrate on the other offensive players.
