Just a Thought....in this article about who is on the trading block?

4. CB Patrick Surtain, Chiefs
Comment: “He’s hurt (shoulder injury) and he has declined, but it’s the same thing as pass rushers; you need cover guys. You can’t get enough of them.”
Best potential fits: Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens. Miami Dolphins??????....I added us...????

Just a thought....Maybe?

We just parted with Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. Surtain has been in decline ever since we traded him to Kansas City. What's the point of bringing him back? Nostalgia?

I think he still is an Up-grade for us?
He can`t be happy in KC...

To me it's all about the contract structure. Funny how everyone was dogging the trade, but, all of a sudden, KC is readyto let him go.

do you have the link?

I think Surtain would be an instant upgrade over Goodman and Lehan and a nice compliment to Allen.

i wouldn't...Surtain was really good for us back then, but i want a young shut down corner out there, not a guy whos' best years are behind him...JMO though

Put me in with the 'out with the old' attitude. He was great, he and Madison gave us some great years, but they're both history. We need to look forward, we've all been looking back way too long.

Depends, whats his contract status, If he would be willing to redo his contract and finish his career with us then I am all for it.

We can still draft a 1st round CB and have him learn behind Surtain. Then we can hopefully draft another CB the following year and have him replace W. Allen(who I think is junk, which I know most of you would disagree).

First, as far as the triumvirate is concerned, there's no such thing as "bringing Surtain back." If he were to return there'd be no sentimentality or special considerations involved like there was, say trying out Quincy Carter and as evidenced by Zach and JT. The only way he'd be considered is if the FO and TS think he'd fulfill a specific set of needs....and based on their modus operaendi, I'd say it would be quite a long shot at best.

troy vincent was an old man and played for a long time, was troy that much better that pat is now? Age or not if he can be better than our current #2, then why not bring him back for agood price.

i agree completely.. this whole offseason was to rebuild with young guys.. why bring in someone who has only a few years left.. get a corner out of the draft.. i think that is what bill is goin to do.. keep our draft picks.. REBUILDING.. thats the key word for atleast the rest of the year and next year..
