Realistically, we are looking at a top 5 pick. Even if we start playing mildly better, top 8 at worst. With the teams that will be picking high, with the exception of Green Bay, I don't see any of them taking Calvin Johnson because of Adrian Peterson and Brady Quinn being there among others. If CJ is sitting there, I don't see how we could possibly pass on him. It feels like we're stacked at receiver, yet we never have huge receiver play that makes an impact in a game with the exception of a few Chambers performances last year. So, despite Hagan, Chambers, and Booker, I think you have to take CJ if he's there. The guy is a freak. What do you think? Or, conversely...if we wind up with, say the 3rd pick, with Oakland and GB ahead of us, I don't see any way that Oakland passes on Peterson and Green Bay passes on CJ...so is Quinn is sitting there, do we take him? Personally, I think Quinn is overrated at this point, and will be a decent pro QB with a long career, but never a star.

If CJ is available and Joe Thomas is gone or we dont think he will pan out we should jump all of Johnson imo.

I don't want to have to remember the day we passed on CJ. Check out these You-Tube links.

Calvin Johnson is a terrific player and person, but we have far more pressing needs than WR. If he's on the board, we ought to use his presence there to trade down and get the picks and players to fill several of our roster holes. If we can't get a good trade down package, then we have to take him and try to turn Chambers or Booker into a left tackle.

If CJ is there, we HAVE to take him. The guy has everything you want in a reciever and then some.

That is a possibility, but we would have to consider him. Maybe use him as trade bait for a LT

There are two players we cant pass on if they are there. They are need palyers and IMO I dont think they're capable of failing to live up to the hype

CJ and Brohm. Brohm #1, CJ #2

I'm absolutely sold on CJ, not so much on Brohm that I think we cant pass on him. Especially since I think we have our QB already on the roster.

unless Joe Thomas is still there or Alan Branch comes out (most scouts believe he is a top 10 lock right now, and could go top 5), I'd take CJ.

Alan Branch is going to be a stud DT as well. 6'6, 330 LBs, can't run around him, great football IQ, pass rushing skills. Probably the best DT prospect to come around in awhile.

:sidelol: ...I like the thought process.

no we cannot.

I know you are a big fan of Thomas, but are you saying that if CJ is available we should pick him. Or are you saying we shouldn't, and should pick Thomas if he is available?

Last time i checked.. We had more pressing issues than at WR. Maybe we could use his availablity as trade bait, but i think we need to address our OL, secondary and LB's first.

This draft is very deep in OL though, not including underclassmen.

I have a sneaking suspicion we will pick the best player available, regardless of need. Draft talk already........................this is going to be a loooong 10 weeks.:fire:
