The Patriots are all about the passing game this year. Brady is the only thing keeping that offense on the field. So should Miami play more Cover 2 this week to prevent the deep ball? I think so. More Cover 2 will stop Brady from going deep forcing him to throw underneath. That is a good thing.

Although, more Cover 2 would put more rushing responsibility on the D-line. They would have to get the pressure on Brady, which I think they are quite capable of. Miami's LBs need to be smart in a Cover 2 scheme. They would need to stay at home in coverage, and hide the blitz well.

More Cover 2 this week! :)

Cover 2 is vulnerable to TE's and RB's catching the ball. Especially the screen, which the patriots do better than any team in the NFL. Also your tackling fundamentals have to be excellent. Either way brady will take what is given to him.

I guess if you take away one thing, you give up another. Miami has a great tackling LB in Thomas. He would do well against the TE and RB. The screen would be difficult to cover. But at least the safeties would be able to come up and stop it, if someone from the D-line hadn't responded already. But yeah, the screen would work good against a Cover 2 defense.

Isnt that what we've done for years to give Brady trouble? Playing cover-2 man?

I'm sure Saban and Muschamp have been thinking about it for a week now. I think we could do it because our D-line is performing very well and their o-line only has two of its original starters. The screen scares me though, they run screen passes very well.

It's all about persuit. We have done well against scrambling QB's in the last couple of games, Brooks and Vick are a good workout. Limit Brady in his time to throw and we can win this thing.

I say we stack the line. No wait, that's the Patriots' plan. I'm pretty sure Saban will mix things up and him and Belichick will have a chess match.

It will be a chess match that will be won by Saban, he has the heathiest team at this point in the season. Pressure on Brady wins this game, let him dink and dunk and we get away from the R&R plan. We need the ball first to establish ball control, maybe a 6 to 7 minute drive, with a serious dose of the running game and we can set the tempo. If Brady gets off early and we have to play catchup look out. Our biggest advantage is Ronnie and Ricky, lets hope we can get them going early and often!

I remember watching an interview with brady last year before a dolphins game. They were asking him why he had trouble throwing against the dolphins defense.

The only thing he said was something like "they always keep those two guys deep, so you can never get over the top...it takes a lot of patience..."

I can't remember exactly word for word, but that's pretty close. When I saw the title of this thread, that's the first thing that came to mind.

Both of Patrioits starting tackles are out that they started with in the beginning of the year, Ashworth and Light. We have to take advantage of this and hopefully J.T and K.C. will have big days.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Brady LOVES to go deep! The Cover 2 defense will eliminate that threat. Let Brady dink and dunk. As long as Miami can tackle well this game, the dinks and dunks won't hurt them.
