was wondering what you guys and gals think of the trade and what parcells has done to improve your team so far? also feel free to ask any questions about akin or fasano

Im very happy with the trade. (assuming you arn't)

Fasano is known as a good blocking TE, how are his recieving skills?

Just go ahead and tell us everything about Akin and Fasano

we hear Akin is good at stopping the run but not so good in pass coverage. That he's a good filler, can play, but not spectacular at all. But he can definitely start in this league at linebacker.

I also heard he is not great at shedding blocks, that he is average in the "trash" areas.

We also know he moved inside in Dallas. And we know he had 115 tackles one year in Jacksonville at OLB. So he can play both inside and outside.

We heard Fasano is a good run blocker and has good hands to catch. We know he's very young (he just turned 24 last week)..

We also heard Fasano filled in very well for your pro bowl tight end Witten when he was out.

As far as parcells, we are very pleased with our new regime. They have gotten us some bigger, stronger players in free agency, the draft (J Long so far but more to come tomorrow), and via trade. That was sorely needed for us (size and strength).

With our new regime, I don't think we will get pushed around the field so easily like other teams have done to us over the past few years.

i'm glad we got something for Akin but I was dissapointed about losing Fasano. he runs pretty good routes and has decent hands. he makes some tough catches but seems to drop the easy ones(right in the numbers) from time to time.

I always felt akin was better suited at OLB in a 4-3. fills the gaps nicely and is a solid run stopper. he doesn't get deep enough in coverage though. Fasano is tough as nails and a solid blocker. runs goud routes but needs to concentrate more when recieving. yeah parcells likes him some big football players lol

Welcome to the board.

First question, I'm pretty happy with the deal. I've liked Akin since his Jacksonville days and I think he's a good fit to this team as either an ILB or on the outside. With the additions of Torbor and Anderson (both of whom I think have potential to be half decent) and the assumed return of Joey Porter, I'm pretty pleased overall with the LB core. Granted, Torbor, Anderson or Adoyele aren't going to harken visions of Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher or Zach in his prime, but all are servicable and capable of doing good things. It's as someone else pointed out in another thread, you can't have a team full of superstars, and these guys I feel will do their role well and earn their cash.

As for Fasano, I was a fan of his at Notre Dame and nothing has changed. Since McMichael was dealt, Miami's had a glaring hole at TE, one that Poole and Martin failed to fill. By getting Fasano, who's still young and has NFL experience, at the expense of a 4th was an investment worth making. Same goes for Akin, and I'm more than pleased to get both for the fourth.

Overall, obviously the final judgement will be made when the team hits the field, but so far, so good in terms of grading the Parcells regime. I like how he's filled some voids without blowing the bank to do it. I really like some of his under the radar signings, such as Torbor and Anderson (specifically Randy Starks) and think he's done well in building up the OLine, starting with Jake Long and not overlooking Justin Smiley.

I'm not too big of a Josh McCown fan. I saw too much of the guy in his time with the Cardinals, Lions and Raiders and was impressed by his physical skills but disgusted by some of his mental errors made.

Overall though I'm pleased.

Wilford, the verdict is still out for me. I've seen Wilford look very good in games for Jacksonville then disappear in others. I think he's an upgrade over Booker, but wouldn't be opposed to see Miami still bring in a WR, perhaps a Jordy Nelson or Malcolm Kelly.

lol look at the teams he played for he is lucky to be still walking

If Mccown's probs have been in the decision making dept. well then maybe he turns the corner with a solid front and RB tandem and different attitude and structure. Most QB's take a few years before the light goes on.
