Anyone else tired of the pessimists and whiners saying Cpep isn't the answer, and we're soooooo far away from competing for the division title, and it's time to rebuild etc... I don't need a Cpep manifesto to believe he's the man in 2007.
All one needs is to look at what his former coaches have to say. Jason Garrett and Scott Linehan have both said (paraphrased), "Hey, ya'll better watch out... this guy is for real and he'll be back with a vengeance." What more do you need than that? If you listen to Mueller, he's probably not planning on drafting Quinn... "You'd hope to have a guy that comes in and gets on the field right away," Mueller told reporters. "If we do pick at nine, rest assured it will be someone I think will come in and contribute right away." Could everyone start supporting our STARTING QB in 2007? His name is Daunte Culpepper.

I don't think Culpepper is the answer, but I don't hate him.
Now it's two plus years since he had any real playing time, he has a very big question mark on him.

I love how people like to throw around the hate word, that's what I'm tired of.

Well, I'm not a hater, but I am skeptical about how well he'll do. We'll see what happens.

I will be rooting for Daunte to be back to 100% and look more like his old self, this way we do not have to hurry the QB that we take this year (Hopfully Quinn), but if Daunte starts to struggle again early, we need to bring in either Lemon, or hopfully Quinn or Stanton (One of these two should be drafted by us this year) will show enough to warrent bringing them in for a shot. :D

Everyone who claims we are DC HATERS are the clueless ones. No one hates DC, we just don't think he's the QB you think he is. Forget all the other talk and his prior stats and pro bowl appearances. He hasn't shown anything in two years and is not fully recovered from pulling THREE (count them) ligaments. That's major. He also raised a question on reading defenses when he did play in 2006.

Im not a hater either, I happen to like Cpep...but the fact remains that he is a serious ??? mark at the QB position. Can he come back fully from his injury, who knows. Can he regain his old form of being very productive, who knows. Thats alot of whatifs IMO!!!
Its great that he has a chip on his shoulder, and really wants to prove the doubters wrong, but that doesnt automatically guarantee a return to his former self!!!

I agree that a lot of the directly hateful and vociferous words towards Cpep is tiresome. But even moreso is the lack of support and downright hateful attitudes toward him in general. Everyone want's to point to the constantly retread arguments for or against him. But now 2 very prominent offense-minded coaches, who coached and worked directly with Daunte, have come out publicly in support of him, his skills, ability, and belief that he will regain his Pro Bowl form. To me, there isn't a single greater measure of Cpeps actual skill-level and potential for 2007, than 2 of the top up-and-coming and respected offensive minds in the NFL publicly stating that the league better watch out for this guy this year. It's time all Fin Fans started rallying around this guy and offering their support... he IS our QB in 2007.

Here is my :2c:

I don't like C-Pep, I think chosing him over Bree's was the biggest blunder in recent sports history, and I agree with Jimmy Johnson, that without (1) Moss and (2) the ability to run, he is worthless.

Now I expect all you C-Pep lovers to keep preaching the faith of C-Pep, even after he is a washout this next season.

I would like to know what exactly makes a person a DC hater? Is it someone who questions whether he will recover to his old self? Is it someone who would like us to draft a young QB when we have the chance after all our years of futility? Or is it someone who questions whether DC is the Dolphins QB of the future at 30 years of age? Would that mean in the future any Miami player who we question we would be classified a hater of that player?

So should we all expect you and jimmie johson to shut your mouth if pep does well this season?

There is NO guarantee that Culpepper will be anywhere NEAR the QB that he once was...and what was he? He was a decent QB throwing to the best WR in the league, at the time. I certainly hope that we are able to get Quinn. If these other coaches love Pep so much, why don't they pony up, and give us a WR that is of the same caliber as Pep, or give us a first or second round draft pick?

I was more talking about you using the hate word, I don't see people using the hate word unless they don't agree with that persons way of thinking.

I think you would have been better off saying you don't like the lack of support he gets, okay, but because someone does not think he will be the QB for the Fins, you label them as haters, to me that is wrong.

Back to your question about if I think he is our starter, I think he gets every chance to start, and may very well start. Do I think he is our future, no I don't.

To be honest, I never wanted him here. But I did go buy his Jersey and I wore on game days.

But I also think he may never be what he was in 2004, and I think we best draft a QB of the future this year (Quinn, Stanton etc..) because I'm afraid we will need him. I like lemon also, but I'm not ready to say he will lead us to a Superbowl.

Wow, one year and its already the biggest blunder in recent sports history?? Not to sound rude, but that is very limited thinking and tunnel vision on your part. Is not drafting Marcus Colston in rounds 1-6.5 the second biggest blunder? You never know what is going to happen with transactions. Brees came out ahead (albeit, by a lot) last season, however its been 1 season.

To the initial post: I do believe we should support DC. Its draft frenzy up until the end of April and until then, no one knows who or what the Dolphins will select. There is no lock at 9 spot, therefore people are going to lobby for whomever they want for the pick. Quinn seems to be fan favorite around here and if he gets selected, then its due to Fin's management and not us. We can all speculate but if we dont end up with Quinn, I'm sure most of us will support C-Pep if healthy.
