I am not a QB Coach, but seeing this picture of Culpepper troubles me. It was taken at the OTA. His footwork worries me a bit. His mechanics might still be faulty, or he might still not be very comfortable throwing the ball.

It looks fine to me, like the picture got shot from an awkward angle/position that makes it look like he is slightly out of whack when he isn't.

Of course I'm no QB coach either.

The problem is that he throws a lot of balls to the team wearing the colored jerseys. Since the Dolphins wear white, this is a problem.

I believe he is still in the "rehab" phase. The emphasis is on getting healthy...not on refining technique. I see absolutely nothing to be worried about in that still photo.

When he is allowed to go at full speed, then his setup and release can be analyzed (in full motion) and tweaked accordingly.

My issue is his footwork. His leg is a little behind where it should be. Cameron stated that he was not throwing the deep pass, he was only throwing intermediate passes. His feet should be only shoulder length appart at the most. Correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct. To me the wide stance on intermediate throws suggests he is overcompensating for support. Looks like he is trying to redistribute his weight from off the knee.

I see the same situation as last year.

Shoulder length is where your feet should be when you're dropping back, but when you're actually throwing that isn't nearly a long enough stride to get anything behind the ball.

It looks fine to me for the most part, I'm sure there are things a QB coach could pick out that I can't of course.

Drop back in your living room (or wherever you are) and pretend like you are throwing.

He is in the middle of bringing his arm forwards and settling the weight onto his front foot, shoulder length is NOT correct form for stepping into a throw.

Perhaps it is just that his pantyhose are too tight.

True, that picture could have been taken right before he stepped into the throw. However, last season, he didn't really step into the throw.

We all saw that last season. His knee is messing up his head. He cant step up and put weight on that knee. Culpepper is a heavyweight in the QB department. No way does a 90% healthy knee support that weight when throwing off the front foot let alone the injury Pep had. Psychologically its a major problem now. Hes had this injury for well over a season now and his head will be giving different signals to the one who played for Minny. Running wise hes a ?. Passing wise and pocket presence hes a ? Just goes to show that Brees shoulder injury was a more hit and miss injury. A knee regarding Peps playing style was obviously more important to getting back.
