I just saw on ESPN's highlight scroll that Michael Crabtree will not be going to the pro's next year. That's good as our record will not be lousy enough to get him next year.

dont believe a word of it until draft day.

Honestly, howmany guys say they're staying until they realize the money they could miss?

And more importantly, how badly has it worked out for primetime players who stayed? Quinn fell to 24, when he would have probably been at least top 15 the year before. Leinart fell to 11, when he would have been #1 the year before. and Brohm fell to the 2nd round!

it'd certainly behoove Crabtree to stay for his junior season...IMO it'll help him refine his game more, and it'll help him out as far as working with another QB considering Harrell's been his only QB so far...so if he stays in school,i think it'd be a smart move on his part...

i dont. he has the skill set to succeed in the NFL. he plays in a gimick offense which doesnt help him in the least. he should go and get time in a real offense immediately

I would think with the possibility with a new CBA in 2010 with a rookie cap that everyone will be coming out this year.

has ntn to do wiht miami going for crabtree but him going into the draft pushes another top player down a slot. to OUR benefit.

btw his dad said they are leanign towards coming out. So i dont konw which it is. the dad part came right after the part that you quoted on espns headline.

very good point, juniors who have a shot at the first round (and even the second) this year should'nt even consider returning to their school.... financially speaking obviously

All I saw on ESPN was "we're leaning towards coming out".

Crabtree's value's not based on the instrinsics of building additonal skill versatilities. It's a calculated risk that he'd shine as much with another QB, a rawer QB than Harrell throwing to him. Right now, he's encircled by the star aura and should be a top 5 pick. Is it really worth the few millions gain trying to move up vs what he can lose like Leinart did? If I were his dad, I'd advise him to grab the gusto while it's guaranteed. He'll be coming out I think, especially if Leach leaves.

i understand what you and Nappy Roots are saying, but i just don't think ANY college football player should go pro until at least after their junior season is up..i don't care how good they are or how ready for the pros they are...but that's just my opinion...

this year is different... 2010 is likely to be the year where rookie caps will be in place... this kid right now has the chance to be a top 10 pick and earn much more money, at worst, drafted 10 overrall than if he'd be drafted 3rd or 4th in 2010.... i have no actual numbers but i'm estimating here and it's the whole concept that's important...

not to mention that the WR class this year is very weak, crabtree is sitting on the throne right now and there's no need to risk guaranteed money for one more year of college experience.

besides, what more can he learn at texas tech ? he's been working with his position coach for 3 years now, how could a 4th one be more beneficial than a year of experience in the NFL ?
