I was always considered a Martin "supporter" around here in that I sympathized with him - a young kid who was thrown into the deep end with guys like Incog and Pouncey and mentally couldn't handle it. Having said that, I was very happy when he was traded - a big win for us (if you could call a 7th round conditional pick "big" lol). He was mediocre at best when he was here, and getting rid of the distraction and making a clean break from that whole circus this offseason was a essential for us.
I don't agree with Crowder that Martin tarnished the game - maybe he put a spotlight on NFL locker rooms and players that was (and still is) uncomfortable, but if anything, I think that could make the game (and the people who play it) better, not worse. But I do completely agree that guys will be extra-revved up when they go against Jonathan Martin. He will have to be a lot better than what he showed here if he wants to play in this league. I'm rooting for him to overcome his emotional/mental issues, but even then he still has physical and technique issues to deal with. Uphill climb, that's for sure.
