Don't be surprised if linebacker Channing Crowder becomes more of a factor in the pass rush. Crowder had no sacks last year and estimates he rushed the quarterback less than a third of the time on pass plays. But Crowder expects to blitz more in Dom Capers' defense. . . . Defensive end Matt Roth has emerged as perhaps the most improved defensive player in camp, with one defensive starter noting he's now simply reacting instead of worrying about making mistakes.

A lot of people were counting Roth out last year, I would love to see this guy come out and play like a freaking monster. I am excited to see what they do during preseason.
 
Solid post, but in light of the surprising Will Poole release, perhaps you should consider re-phrasing the title of the post. Just a suggestion.
 
the whole defense will be let loose, every player will have a chance to rack up sacks. our defense will be a monster and it will surprise alot of people

Thats great.I love Crowder and Roth.Saban new both these kids could play.

man i totally cannot wait to see big matty roth in action this season he will be a total beast and hopefully feature much more than he did last season with his added size and strength. he is gonna be awesome

i always wondered if he would be better utilized like willie mcginnest and jason taylor. i wouldn't be suprised if he was more utilized than just end.
 
Very exciting news! One more reason to look forward to some preseason action!!!!

aarrrgh!!! i agree. he scared the bigeezus outta me. man, i thought they were out of the team for whatever reason. sigh!:(
 
My bad.I didnt think about the Poole release.I cant change the title.

With the lack of playing time that Roth had last year, when he emerges, it will be a great bonus.

It was said that confidence was his downfall last year and if he stops worrying about mistakes and plays on instincts and knowledge.... O BOY!!!

Roth is the back up to Carter so how do we get Roth, Carter and Taylor in at the same time?
