How much of a factor was the foot injury to Channing Crowder in the very first minute? I think that it was huge and a big reason why the defense looked so inept in the first half. I have heard some say that he is the on-field general for the defense, that he sees what the offense is doing and can react. Again we saw that when he is absent - they struggle.
I'm convinced that one of the keys to improving the defense is to get more skilled players at the inside linebacking position in the draft and/or free agency.

I have always stuck up for this guy. It seems like a lot of people only see Channing's bad plays and he does have some, not many IMO, though. He closes running lanes and is always right next to the ball. I liken him to our first canon blowing up their first wall of defense, aka the runners primary blocker. With that wall out of the way, all our other canons can blow up the fort, aka play. He gets it way too hard on here when guys like Wilson, Ayodele, Smith, Jones, and Porter are the real killers of this defense.

Start Wake in place of Porter next year (did you see that sick stop on that 3rd down screen play where he recovered to make the tackle after falling to the ground on the sack attempt?!?!? WOW!), get Will Allen and Jason Allen back in the mix at corner, and draft/sign(FA) Wilson's and Ayodele's replacements. You get a guy like Spikes in their in the middle next to Crowder in the 3-4 and we'll be money up front.

Just like the Chiefs game last year, our defense looked incredibly bad when he went down. How pathetic is it when your D falls apart for losing Channing ****ing Crowder.

There is more to it than that....Crowder is a much better player than some people here give him credit for. On top of that, he is the guy that has the headset in his helmet to call the plays....that explains the mass confusion we had on D all afternoon....

Draft McClain, Brandon Graham and Brandon Lang in the first 3 rounds . . and go into next season with:

Elephant - Jason Taylor/Brandon Graham
MLB - Channing Crowder/Reggie Torbor
WILL - Rolando McClain/JD Folsum
Jack - Cameron Wake/Brandon Lang

We gotta improve those LB's

Cut Akin Ayodele, Joey Porter and resign JT for one more year.

Crowder is GREAT
just compare him to what we saw in Cushing and Ryans
two linebackers that make plays...unlike ours

Cushing was a mid 1st rounder
Ryans was a very early 2nd rounder

We have 2 washed up LB's in JP/JT
A servicable guy in Crowder who was a 3rd rounder
2 blah guys in Ayodele and Torbor
a CFL product in Wake

I mean there is the answer . . . we have to draft a guy, or three guys.

We took care of the trenches in season 1, and we took care of the CB's in season 2. Tried to take care of the WR last year, but that is a work in progress.

Season 3 is the LB's

he was sorely missed yesterday. people can hate on him all they want, but when he's out the D is that much worse. no way foster would be running right up the gut to the tune of 5 yards a carry with crowder in the game.

Crowder wasn't missed yesterday. He surley wasn't missed in the 2nd half.

It was the secondary scheme they were running in the 1st half that caused all the problems. When they went to more man on man coverage in the 2nd half the defense played well and held them to 0 points.

If Crowder was in the game in the 2nd half he would have got fooled when Schuab ran the QB draw and Torbor sniffed it out and stoped him.How many times have we seen the other teams QB running in for TD this season and last season?Crowder always gets fooled on those plays.

Yea people used this logic concerning the ATL game and Tony G. Where did that get MIA in ATL? I guess watching him trail the TE most of the season does make Chowder serviceable.

I also guess his leadership and play making ability have sorely been missed over the past 5 years. How many sacks does Cushing have as a rookie? And how many does Chowder have over his 5 years? Sad and pathetic come to mind.

Crowder ... eh?

I have a feeling we're going to see 4 or 5 brand spanking new lb's next year.

I don't understand this stance at all. Crowder sucks! People point to two games that he did not play as why he is so good... does that make sense?

Crowder is very serviceable and cheap as hell. If he does not ever play another snap as a Dolphin, we have gotten more than value out of that pick. 5 year starter at LB in 5 years? What were we expecting?

Now if you bring Dansby in and draft McClain, then u can cut your losses with him or keep him on as a nice backup. . . until then, he is atleast our most consistent ILB on the team . . . even if he lacks the "big play".

I like how everybody wants to get rid of guys like Ginn, Wilson (who trust me I am not a fan of), Crowder, JP . . . and have no clue who is gonna replace them . . . give so and so a shot. Its quite clear Crowder means a lot to this defense, and it was evident by the 2 first half performance where he went down and the defense was lost and took a whole half to regroup.
