Culpepper Contract Details Inside

I hope they restructure him soon. I believe he'll count 8mil against the cap.

Anyone know if there are any incentives there or is just salary. If he plays like he should then its not too bad. This year is tough though.

im hoping they do something about that bonus. even if they dont 8million for a franchise qb isnt that bad.

One advantage we gain from trading for Culpepper is that any prorated cap charges for already paid out bonuses stay with Vikings. Outside of any remaining bonuses in the contract (of which the upcoming 6 million bonus is the obvious one), all that remains is his base salary each year, and therefore this gives us a lot of flexibility in any possible restructuring.

From 2007 on, I think he is owed 55.5 million in SALARY, i.e. non-guarenteed monies. If for whatever reason, Daunte ends up busting out, or re-injuring himself to no return, we can get off the hook relatively cheap.

Plus, as others have said, this gives us tons of room going forward to renegotiate.

indicates that in Peps current deal the Dolphins assumed the $6 million roster bonus, and in addition agreed to give Culpepper $2 million for 2006. The entire seven-year deal is worth $49.5 million with likely-to-be-earned incentives of $1.5 million per season from 2007 to 2012. 7 years 49.5 mil versus 6 years 60 mill, if da phins move pep roster bonus over a few year his contract is really pretty good for da Phins:dolphins:

That contract data is a bit strange I didn't realize 1.5 each year was in incentives. That complicates things quite a bit. I know the Vikings have paid the entire bonus plus another 4m from last year when they re-strucutred, but seven years? The deal has eight years left...
