Is it me or does Culpepper look really bad handing the Ball of to Ronnie Brown. It is so telegraphed and deliberate that I can see it a mile a way. I think teams linebackers are getting a good jump on the runnig plays because Culpepper has to struggle to get the ball back to Brown.

I am not here to bash Pep. I think when he gets time to throw he has done well. He is just still gimpy and has a hard time getting to Brown in time.

Ironically, Culpeppers leg is causing problems for our Running Game.

To me, it look as if Culpepper is falling down when he hands the ball off to Brown. I freak out a little everytime...

It gives the other teams defense a great read on the run play.

we just have to get use to it..cause he wont be on the bench no time soon

pep isnt putting power in his leg at the moment either..but he'll get more confidence in that leg and i think he'll improve every week

Cmon dude, why is everyone trying to bring down EVERY aspect of culpepper? I mean, a run is a run. Who are you fooling anyway. Its either play action or a run and if you get too cute trying to disguise a run then bad handoffs occur. I think you're really reaching here.

He rushed back from an injury (and I dont mean at this point, I mean when he started practicing in minicamps), and then spent the whole summer developing bad mechanical habits to compensate for the problems the leg was giving him.

The good news is there should be hope that he can fix these problems, whether he can do it during the regular season though, I dunno. I'm hopeful that they can get the mechanical stuff fixed in the offseason.

I really think we're just back to the basics w/ Pep. Slow deliberate handoffs, slow mechanical drop backs and basic plays just to get him back into the swing of things. It's as if he's at the crawling phase of qbing. The deliberate handoffs are probably out of fear of a bad exchange.

I think when Nick Saban smiles its a running play and when he taps his hat its a passing play and we are tipping them off, also when Jason Taylor says 'moo' it means they are in an all out blitz which is giving the offense time to audible the play and burn us with a bomb

Or

Maybe the O-line just isnt blocking and the linebackers arent blitzers but we are trying to make them do it anyway......

Sarcasm Alert

I am not bashing Pepper. I really like him and the acquisition. He looks good when he gets time to throw the ball.

But he pretty much is falling down to get the ball handed off. His leg is too gimpy to make a basic hand off.

he sure as hell gave us a 5 yard scramble for a td with his gimpy leg. the man deserves respect for what he has done on a leg that isnt 100%. especially with the lack of support ( from his offense teamates ) he has recieved. dont you guys remember danny handing off, that was ugly, not to mention he didnt really put much effort into playfakes either

I'm all for Culpepper. I want him to play every minute of the game. His hand off just scares me a little. Once he really starts to get healthy, He won't look so odd making the quick turn for the hand off.

No different than Marino. His handoffs took awhile too at the end of his career. THe handoffs are the least of our problems. So....relax.

Do you mean when he's getting tripped up by the offensive linemen in the backfield right after the snap? That happened to Harrington in the preseason too, if I recall correctly.

He reminds me of Marino, the back is 3 yards behind him and his arm is fully extended before the back takes one step forward. I agree, this is way to obvious, there is a whole lotta work to be done on Dauntes part. What bothers me is us football fans see a whole lot of mistakes with this O, yet we are in the third game and things haven't changed, just what exactly are the coaches looking at??

Well, look at it this way. The thing about the "slow" handoff from Cpep. If he is a little slow dropping back either to pass or hand off...there's nothing the coaching staff can do about that. Hes not 100%, its that simple. Until he gets back to 100% or near that and he regains his "speed", its going to continue to be a problem if you truly believe thats a problem.

So, while the fans see it and the coaches probably see it, what can anyone do?
